Rodeway Inn Logan International Airport

We stayed at the Rodeway Inn for one night in June before we travelled to Cape Cod.

We used the phone for the courtesy bus at Logan Airport and the bus duly arrived in exactly the 30 minutes quoted. Unfortunately with it being a hot and humid day and the traffic extremely heavy it took about three quarters of an hour to reach the hotel - not great as the air conditioning had broken down!

The hotel is located in quite a run-down area and the outside looks very tired and scruffy. However the lady on the desk was very pleasant (she did say she was surprised the phone for the bus at the airport worked as they hadn't paid the bill!). She was quite jovial considering the aggressive phone calls she was getting from other guests.

The bedroom itself was a real surprise. It was large, very clean and the bathroom was well-stocked with toiletries.

With there being no restaurants in the area it was necessary to travel to get an evening meal but the courtesy bus was available to assist. Actually we were told the bus was at the airport and would take half an hour ro get back and so we booked a taxi which arrived just after the bus, 10 minutes later!

Overall though the bedroom was good and that is really what you want so I increased the rating from 2 to 3 stars

Room Tip: Hotel is near quite a busy road so you could ask for a room near the back.

I'm trying to find ways to describe this odd little motel. To begin, it's in a neighborhood that could only be described as scruffy and charmless. There is also an air of decay about the place, inasmuch as the floors creaked and the carpets were dirty and stained in the hallways. The saving grace was the room itself; it had obviously been updated by a fairly clever decorator who managed to find a very comfy king sized-bed and some nice chintz decorations to make the room appealing, in spite of its surroundings.

Now, here's the point that alarms: the back door entrance, which led to the alley, was not locked all night. I know, because I woke up in the middle of the night to check on our car parked in the alley, and the motel back door was open. This scared the heck out of me because our room was downstairs and anyone could have walked in from the alley to any of the rooms. The "lobby" is actually on the second floor, and those folks would not have been able to detect anyone coming in or out of that back door. Certainly no one saw me! Management -- you have a very serious security problem! I would never wish to discredit an establishment on looks alone, but a security issue is something altogether different. I would hesitate to recommend this motel until the establishment addressed the safety issue for guests.

After staying in several unpleasant chain motels in both York and Kittery Maine I was expecting a similar experience when I approached the Roadeway Inn. Yes the building is old and the neighborhood less than inviting, but the staff was very pleasant and accomodating and the rooms were very nicely done and they had just been redecorated. I do agree that something needs to be done with the interior general areas and hopefully that is in the works. I found the shuttle to be clean and in reasonable condition and the drivers were prompt and courteous when they picked us up from and delivered us to the airport.

Compared to the $140 a night we paid in Maine I found the rooms here to be a bargain. Boston and in fact the whole of the New England coast is very expensive and it is hard to find anything decent for less than $200 a night. This is not a place for an extended stay, but for a night or two it fits the bill.

I would not let my dog stay there! There is no lobby, you walk up a half flight of stairs to get to a desk. The front of the building is right off the road, there is minimal parking to the side and the back is in a dirty alley. The shuttle van is dented and rusty. We did take time to look at the room however because one review said the room was clean...really? The bedding had stains on it and the sprinklers were jimmied off the shower and the sprinkler heads were covered with greasy dust. The entire building smells and is anything but clean. We did not stay there needless to say and will contest the charge with the company. Trip advisors pictures are very misleading.

We stayed at this hotel for the airport shuttle service. When we arrived, the outside looked very scary. The hotel is not in the best part of town. The outside and the lobby are very run down. However, when we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The room is updated and clean. The bedding was fresh and crisp. I think this is a good place for a one night stay and airport service.

Too expensive for its class, interior was too shabby justify its rating, too close to the main road with poor sound insulation and as a result too noisy. With the windows closed the A/C was almost deafening.

This hotel price-gouges jet lagged travellers. We booked this hotel in April, specifically requesting a room at the back of the hotel. When we arrived we were given a main road facing room. We were told that there were no rear rooms available because other longer-staying guests had bagged them. When we pointed out we had requested a rear facing room we were told that the room allocations were not made in April!! Worst excuse ever.

Avoid if possible

Room Tip: Choose any other hotel near Logan airport. If you must stay here request (in writing and verbally...
