“Romantic getaway weekend”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

We stayed at this wonderful guest house for Valentine's weekend. It was as perfect this time as it has been during each of our past stays. The staff is so accommodating from finding special champagne glasses to making that hard to get reservation for dinner. The breakfast is wonderful, Tish going out of her way to make sure each guest has what they enjoy. Jared was wonderful, making sure that we were able to stay the extra night during a surprise snow storm that made driving dangerous. The rooms, spa.....all in all a great place to stay.

Room Tip: There really is not a bad room. Many have fireplaces.

The winter storm proved to be no match for the cozy elegance of the guesthouse and the warm sincerity of the fabulous staff at Carpe Diem. One couldn't have wanted for a thing. The whole town was, of course, without power for some time, but the romantic weekend my partner and I were looking for was right there laid out in front of us. We had a simply lovely time enjoying the cozy fireplace in our gorgeous room, passing time chatting in the guesthouse, and playing cards and joking with our fellow snow-bound housemates, as well as the wonderful food and the more than generous hospitality offered up at Carpe Diem. I wouldn't hesitate to say I'd go back and do it all over again, storm and all! Truly. I can't say enough about it. Don't hesitate. Book it! We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Marel Proust rm. The fireplace is a must have for winter nights. So cozy, romantic...

Our latest romantic getaway was a New Year's trip to the frozen north!! I hadn't been to Cape Cod since I was a little girl and thought it sounded like a great escape!! This delightful Guest house did not disappoint!!! Great location, wonderful staff and tasty snacks and breakfasts prepared with love and superb hospitality!! The rooms beautifully decorated and themed and just around the corner from terrific art galleries and amazing restaurants!!

Room Tip: The fireplace units were really worth it!!

Our visit to Ptown was made so much better because of our stay at Carpe Diem. Room was wonderfully decorated and roomy. The setting of Carpe Diem is so peaceful; from layout of the grounds to the spa. The daily wine and cheese hour was such a great touch. This gave us opportunity to meet others that were staying at the guesthouse. Jurgen and Hans are great hosts and the breakfast experience is a culinary delight. You can't go wrong staying here. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.

A great little place full of thoughtful touches, which made us feel very much welcomed and at home the location is ideal from which to explore Ptown yet maintain an air of tranquility. The breakfast offerings were varied and delicious and the invitation to use the kitchen and spa as we wished during our stay made for a thoroughly relaxing experience.

My only quarrel with the place was very specific to the Cesar Moro room which we had booked. We would normally seek an upstairs room in a guesthouse as we know ground floor rooms tend to suffer the noises of their upstairs neighbours, but given only ground floor rooms were available we decided to take a punt anyway. What was not communicated in the online booking process was that this room has its (thin) door immediately inside the main entrace door, at the foot of a staircase, and opens directly into the communal living area that is so enjoyed by other guests, per opening comments and other reviews. Conversations could be heard through the door as if it were not there, and every late returning guest's movement awoke us. This left us with very little peace or privacy, and with no recourse to redress due to all other rooms being fully booked.

I left generally happy with the stay but feeling it could have been so much better if I had booked a better room.

Room Tip: Speak with the staff ahead of booking and select upper floor

We just got back from 2 of the most relaxing days ever. The staff was superb. We took full advantage of the spa. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room. It was so nice and cozy. The first day we were alone and used the hot tub. The second day we both had a message by Dana. Both mornings we had a wonderful breakfast made by Trish. She was so cheerful and pleasant. The desk staff Jarred and Annette we excellent. If you really want a relaxing couple retreat during the winter I would strongly suggest the Carpe Diem.

We have been visiting PTown for over 25 years, staying in several guesthouses and B&Bs. Once we discovered Carpe Diem, there was no other place for us. The service is so attentive and friendly, the decor charming and romantic. We always reserve the same room, the James Baldwin, with its lovely fireplace. Staying at Carpe Diem is like staying with friends. We are always looking forward to our next visit.
