“Whales around us!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

My daughter and I made a trip on July 27, 2013. This is our 5th whale watching trip, but previous were from Plymouth.
Dolphin Fleet has the cleanest ships (We traveled on Dolphin VIII). Every corner is washed and painted.
Trip was amazing. We never saw as many Whales, as this time. There are like 30 of them feeding and playing together. They were around the boat and it was so beautiful to see so many of these huge and peaceful animals at the same time.
One tip... Dress well, take something warm even on a hot summer day. It is chilly in the ocean. And don't forget sunscreen and camera!

“Excellent!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We were blessed with a calm day as the prior day was very windy and wavy. We had a humpback whale right next to our boat and she put on a great show. Amazing to a whale so large move so gracefully through the water. The boat was not crowded so we could go from side to side and get great views. We took the 2:30 tour on Sunday. The boat has restrooms, snack bar with water, soda and coffee. Bring a light jacket, it is colder off shore. Highly recommended!

“We did see whales! Trip is an hour too long.”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We were undecided about taking this trip as 3 and a half hours on a boat is a long trip. However we went after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and were pleased we did. We saw 6 whales and one blessed us by swimming alongside for a good five minutes. The tour naturalist is imformative for the first 30 minutes and then that's it unless you spot a whale. Our captain decided to head out to look for hump back whales that had been spotted earlier in the week - this actualy meant almost 1 and a half hours of travelling at speed out to see and back, seeing nothing, The whales we did see were much closer to the harobour. The tour only took 3 hours, rather than the 3 and a half - but even this was nore than needed. They should cut the timing down and I'm sure more people would go and enjoy the experience more. However, having said that, for a once in a lifetime experience - go!

“Maybe the whales didn't come this year”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

It was a fine trip but we only saw 2 whales and I've heard from others on the boat that the sightings have been poor this year. Too bad. The weather was nice at least.

“Probably better during the off season”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

We did see a number of whales, many of which seemed to be swimming with the boat and leaping out of the water just for show. But it was a full boat so the chances of getting a clear view were greatly reduced. Also, we originally bought tickets in advance for a specific date, on the morning of the watch we found that the waters were very choppy, so they allowed us to switch dates at no charge.
