My fiance and I came here to get our beach bonfire permit for Herring Cove beach. I've been here several times before but I'm always impressed with the visitor center. There is usually a ranger on staff who can tell you a lot of information about the area.
They usually have free movies running every 20 minutes or so with history about the area. We watched one about whaling in the early 20th century. They also have a little gift shop with lots of cool 'National Seashore' stuff, so we bought a few things (although it's kind of expensive). The view out on the observation deck is really something to see.
One downside to this place is the tourist buses that stop here and suddenly the place is packed with people.
Overall this place is worth a stop for some cool Cape Cod gifts and to get some good info on the area!
