Don't be put off by the exterior. Based on its looks, I wanted to find another place for lunch, but our friends said that was not an option.
Though the restaurant was crowded in early October, with a line out the door, we were seated within 10-15 minutes. Crowds this big means there's good food to be had. Parties of two and four were seated faster than large groups. We sat upstairs with a beautiful view of the harbor.
All of us had boiled lobster and clam chowder. Everyone was happy with the food, which was reasonably priced. Their menu is available on line: http://www.ptownlobsterpot.com/menu.html
The service was friendly, though not particularly fast, but no complaints. Even though they were packed with people waiting in line, we were not rushed to eat up and leave. The wine list by the glass was very skimpy, though for full bottles, there was an ample selection and reasonably priced.
