“Excellent Dinner”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

Had a fantastic dinner with friends here. The view was beautiful, the staff friendly and efficient, and the food excellent. I would not suggest this restaurant for families - definitely more of an adult atmosphere. Our meal here was one of the highlights of our trip.

“Beautiful view;Delicious food”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

Upon arrival,we were ushered to the back deck overlooking the harbor.Gorgeous view. The wait for our table was roughly 20 min from our reservation request and that is about the most negative thing I can say about this restaurant.Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the wine list.Appetizers of gazpacho soup and beet salad were great. Our entrees of sea scallops and lobster risotto were absolutely delicious, followed by a chocolate peanut butter pie.The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and it made for a very enjoyable evening.

“Didnt live up to the billing...”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

Great location overlooking the harbour and friendly service but the quality of the meal just didn't live up to he billing (or indeed the bill!). For those that want to give it a go, bear in mind it is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. A Miss.

“Excellent On Most Levels; Good On the Rest”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

From first seating (at the bar) in this compact but well-designed establishment on the Second floor of the Whaler's Wharf, you instantly become part of the able bartender's fans. The wine list, among the better in town, perused and a glass chosen, you then proceed to pick an entree and perhaps an appetizer.

The thing is, I've come here for years. I've visited Ross' Grill since the new Whaler's Wharf was built to replace the one destroyed by fire (the fire that also gutted the Crown & Anchor and part of the Marine Specialties store way back about fifteen years ago.) Rebuilding took time, but one established, only Ross Grill and the Nut House have really continued to bring traffic to the Whaler's Wharf - and for good reason. Both bring excellence in their respective fields and both hire immensely good staff. You don't find rude, arrogant staff at Ross' Grill. You find a bartender so good at what he does, almost everyone calls him by name lovingly. You find waitstaff sweet and unobtrusive, a host staff both forgiving and able to juggle the chaos of busy theme weeks without going apoplectic, bus staff as stealthy as props personnel in a well-run play, and kitchen staff in an open kitchen viewable by the bar who love what they're cooking.

The menu does not alter much, season to season, but they always do well what they do all the time.

To add a finishing touch: the view from their balcony, especially at night, is breathtakingly gorgeous.

“Avoid ordering from the bar”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

The food is yummy. Definitely try the french onion soup and the Asian steak salad. However, save your money on the booze there. The mixed drinks are mediocore at best. Went there last year and was hoping to see the improvement this year, but no. Pretty much the same subpar quality from the bar.
