“Another fabulous stay”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Another fabulous stay at my favorite place in Provincetown.

Yes, it's a little expensive to stay here, but it's well worth the money in my opinion. Besides, any decent guest house in Provincetown is going to be pricey during high-season. I've stayed at several other places in town... the cheaper places were horrible and the more expensive ones had nice rooms, but you don't get the same level of service.

Bob and the rest of the staff are fantastic. The rooms are always clean, they provide a fantastic breakfast every morning and happy hour every evening. I just love the vibe here; laid-back, cozy, comfortable. They are also far enough away from the nightlife craziness, if you enjoy peace & quiet, but close enough if you want to participate in the craziness.

Can't wait to see you guys again. Hopefully sometime this fall or during Holly Folly.

Room Tip: Room 10 is a great value, but the bathroom is across the hall, not in the room.

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of July.
At $345/night it was really pricey. The breakfasts were copious and very good. The room was spacious with view of harbour. Bob created some delicious offerings every morning and was quite helpful with any information request we had. And the location was great. However, given the price of the room, Somerset fell short of our expectations especially in regards to maintenance and upkeep: spotty room cleaning (sand remained on carpet), towel racks easily came off the wall, peeling paint could be found on toilet seat and bathtub, blinds in the bathroom were rusty and garden on the front porch somewhat looked a bit neglected. Although we did enjoy our stay at the Somerset, we would probably try another place for our next visit to Ptown.

The Somerset House is in the perfect location along Commercial Street. The location is in extremely close walking distance to the central part of Commercial Street, yet just far enough away from all the major hustle and bustle. The room was clean every day and the AC kept it nice and cool. We stayed in the smallest room with a private bathroom down the hall and my only recommendation would be that the owners consider putting in some type of AC cooling unit in the bathroom because it did get very hot and was difficult to cool down. All of the staff at Somerset were very inviting and helpful. Bob is a fantastic host who cooks delicious breakfast every single morning with a great variety. On top of the breakfast that is including in your stay each morning, the Somerset House also has a cocktail hour each evening free of charge! My fiance' and I would definitely stay at the Somerset House Inn again and recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect Provincetown vacation Bed and Breakfast!

Fantastic 3 days in Somerset House Inn. Perfect Location. Right on Commercial Street in midst of the action. Opposite the wonderful coffee shop - Wired Puppy. It has a beautiful ocean view right from its porch. Lovely garden and sitting area. You can spend the entire morning there reading newspapers and having a hot brew.

The service is impeccable. Bob is always around. Calling you a cab, ensuring you go the right places to eat and even has a first-aid kit ready for any band-aid emergencies.

And top this all...the breakfast. I used to look forward to it every morning. And Bob never disappointed. Blueberry pancakes first morning, mushroom frittata the second and finally baked eggs and tomato ramekins on last day. Washed down with the finest organic tea. And finally finishing it with either freshly cut watermelon or the best coffee cake I've ever had. Took a couple slices to my room and had it in the evening!

The rooms are decent sized, quirky, colourful and bathrooms are modern with posh toiletries. Fridge stocked with free water and soda. Free use of computer on 1st floor with all the latest reading material.

Definitely a top notch B&B. I can't wait to come back just for the breakfast.

Fabulous weekend in Provincetown, highlighted by the perfect bed and breakfast that is the Somerset House Inn. This grand old nin is clearly lovingly and painstakingly cared for as are its guests. The rooms each seem to have their own unique charm, we will certainly stay in another on our next stay. Bob a first rate host and excellent cook, as my boyfriend is still raving about a mushroom quiche he had on our first morning there. Most importantly, this inn is peaceful and quiet, something that can be hard to come by on Commercial St. in the summer!

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong! The rooms on the third floor do have a fabulous view though.

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The inn has all the warm charms of a B&B and amenities of an upscale boutique hotel. Our room on the 2nd floor is quite spacious (by P town standards) and nicely furnished. The bathroom looks like it's been remodeled recently and everything is fresh and new. l'occitane toiletries are a nice touch.
Street noise can be a bit of a problem if you leave the windows open at night - it didn't bother us since it was a relatively quiet weekend. You may need to check with the owner and get a room away from Commercial street if you are sensitive to noise.

I've stayed at Somerset during each of my three work trips to PTown in the gorgeousness of January, and each time has been incredibly restorative and completely lovely. I can only speak for the cold off-season, but theirs is the perfect location and combination of winter amenities: right across the street from the beach (my room the second and third year had a lovely view of the water from my bed!) and a delightful little coffee shop, extremely comfortable bedding, fireplaces in many of the rooms, a decent television package, small refrigerators (which I particularly appreciate as someone with many food allergies who brings food everywhere), comfortable common spaces, nearby parking and GORGEOUS food. With my allergies I can't eat most things, but I pestered my friends for details; Bob is a pro, and (as a food writer) I'm immensely impressed by what he executes. He's also incredibly friendly and accommodating, and recommended a wonderful massage therapist and places for us to eat in the area per our likes and needs. Carey is also incredibly welcoming - I've loved catching up with him yearly and he was super sweet in keeping my room stocked with clean glasses and the L'Occitane products I adore (and now, thanks to them, buy regularly on my own). More than anything, the team has "hospitality" nailed - they're available when you need them, give space when you need quiet, are supportive of their community and want to share it, and smart in running a smooth business. I've never felt a need to look elsewhere when coming to town.
