Owner description: Marine Specialties has been a Provincetown landmark for over 50 years. Often known simply as "the army-navy store," Marine Specialties is an eclectic treasure trove of salvage, surplus, slight IRs, closeouts, overruns, misprints, mistakes, spare parts, odd lots, cast-offs, and new and nearly-new items. Over time it's grown to be the kind of jumbled, inclusive, and eccentric "army-navy" store Provincetown deserves. Many people young and old call this their favorite shop. History Started in 1961 by Bob and Elizabeth Patrick as a Retail Mail Order business with a small hand illustrated catalog. Marine Specialties evolved into an eclectic Army Navy store during the 1960's.The Patrick's have traveled the world hunting down the unusual and unique. Since 1970 they have supplied other stores worldwide, although predominantly in the US and Japan. Three generations now work in this long established family business Open Daily in season.

I love to travel to places where you can browse through interesting little shops and Provincetown has them in abundance! Marine Specialties is one one of the best, most interesting shops in the area. They carry everything from designer linen women's clothing to authentic army surplus. I bought a few grey outfits and my 11 year old bought an old gas mask! I am not sure we have ever both been so thrilled with the same store!

It is a very nice store on Commercial Street in Provinctown. They have many things like clothes, license plates, road signs, water bottles, and a lot more stuff. My Dad used to work there when he was a teenager. The items are pretty cheap. If you are in Provincetown go to Marine Specialties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need it?- you will probably find it in this store. I love the variety of fun items as well as some cool clothing and gear. The inventory changes regularly so there are often new surprises- but you can count on shells and knick knacks for gifts from the Cape as well. I always get my Halloween hats there! And they always get an enthusiastic reaction come Halloween. Check out this fun store in the heart of P-town.

A great store to browse. About 40% of merchandise is surplus goods--military, govt and airlines--US and overseas. Plus, other off-price stuff. Buy a fantastic-quality Dutch Post Office deliveryman's waterproof jacket. Or a set of discontinued American Airlines flatware. Mostly top-quality stuff at lower-than-usual prices. A few real bargains to be had, but less than in past. Past few years, they seem to be getting more organized in the shop layout (and, I think, the prices are creeping up--boo!). Bought a pair of high-end flip-flops. $24 here, probably $40 in the stores. For beachwear, they have a good selection. And, a great place to find an unusual gift at a great price.

I love this store, my wife had to drag me out of here. It has a very eclectic collection of art, marine equipment and aviation collectibles. I picked up some American Airlines collectables as well as a beautiful Art Deco print of California Street in San Francisco. This store is a must on your visit to Provincetown.
