My friend & I went on a Thursday night for a couple of drinks. The bar area was pretty quiet. The bartender seemed way more interested in socializing with her friend & co worker who was just finished a shift was eating & drinking at the bar. My friend & Idecided to order an appetizer & asked the bartender if we could still put in an order (it was a few minutes before 9pm) & was informed that the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes. She seemed incredibly put off to put our order in. I'm not sure how this place stays in business in regards to their service.

Family who live a short way from the Bog have raved about it. So we joined them on a Saturday evening. A sister restaurant to one of our regulars when we are in Massachusetts--Ellas in Wareham--The Bog is a casual comfortable, not fancy place, tucked in among fast food places and a boat dock/storage on the main road. If you don't know the area, keep an eye out for the driveway. The restaurant was not super busy. Staff was welcoming and we were seated easily. And they were right about the food--it was incredible. Not only was everything well done, each serving was beautifully plated, making the food even more appealing. The roasted beet carpaccio salad with whipped goat cheese had a nice tangy zip to complement the sweetly roasted beets. The frisee salad also got rave reviews. The scallops served on a bed of celery root puree and topped with thin strips of carrots and parsnips was absolutely delightful--the flavors blended beautifully. The short ribs were also excellent, with tasty roasted root vegetables. Desserts were yummy, especially the Chocolate Pate. The wine list was great and every bottle was $30. The food would win accolades from our foodie friends and neighbors in New York, but there is a down side. We had an incredibly long wait for our food. We did take our time ordering but even when we placed our order, it took a long time for our salad, and then it was another hour before our main courses arrived. Good thing we weren't in a rush and just enjoyed the company and the wine while we waited. Another table came in about 20 minutes after we did and got their food almost right away. We began to wonder if they had to run out to get more ingredients, or that the large table in the next room took all the attention. Our family assured us that while they had some wait before, nothing this long had happened before--40 minutes for salad and over an hour for the main course will not bring people back. Hopefully this service will improve so that it matches the food. When it does I'd give The Bog an excellent rating.

We just ate at the Bog for the third time and it was fantastic. Fresh ingredients and creative cooking. We will go back for more.

Went here for dinner with family and friends. Food is definitely inventive and has a "twist"! We ordered a few small plates and entrees to try a bit of everything. Small plates were meals unto themselves!!!!! The food was beyond outstanding. Codfish cakes - a must!!!!!!! The special roasted butternut squash soup, beyond delicious as was the Eggplant/Squash Lasagna. The one thing this restaurant needs to work on is service!!!! While the waitresses were great, food took a LONG time to come out!!!!! Decor is okay inside and out. Really need to do something out the lack of landscaping and the interior decor (very dark!). Outside deck/bar is great !!!!! Overall a great experience, just need to work on service in terms of the kitchen delivering.

That says it all. Have you ever wished you were invisible? Sounds like fun huh! Not if your looking for dinner and wine and trying to patronize a local place. Nice to see you are busy. Guess what it's all over after this weekend. You will probably wish some of the locals would frequent. Not when you treat them like this. Good luck.
