This was our first accommodation after arriving in New England and we were very pleased with the room and the Inn in general. Great spa and swimming pool and lots to do within a short walk of the inn. Wasn't so chuffed with the Hearth & Kettle restaurant as we thought it quite expensive, so we had breakfast at Perseys Place, a 5t minute walk away. The Mayflower 2 is a nearby attraction worth seeing and lots of eateries to try out.
I must say the beds were very comfy and the furniture was antique and fitted in so well

Room Tip: We were in room 318 at the front of the inn and we had no problems

We were all tired after driving 10 hours to our destination. At the check-in desk, Colleen cheerfully checked us in and answered all my questions. There's only one elevator and it's really slow, but the stairs were close and we were on the second floor so it wasn't a big deal. The room was spacious and was clean. The bathroom was a good size, but could have used more shelf space to place our things. Loved the magnifying mirror that swung out from the wall. It was great for putting make-up on! The beds were really soft and although my kids loved it, I had a hard time sleeping in the bed. Also, the a/c unit made a lot of noise and kept me up throughout the night. The cleaning staff were wonderful. I left notes with their tip and they wrote back to me thanking me for the tip, which I thought was really nice. The restaurant inside the hotel - Hearth and Kettle - was wonderful. The waitresses were all friendly and the food was moderately priced and delicious! The pool was a ton of fun. The kids (and my husband) enjoyed going down the slide and being dumped into the pool below. Very family friendly!!! The hotel was walking distance to the "Plymouth Rock" and the "Mayflower II" and the downtown area. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask about the a/c units to see if they have a room that is less noisy.

Within walking distance of all the historical sites. The on-site restaurant, Hearth & Kettle, was delicious and you received a $10 per day coupon as a guest, toward lunch or dinner. We dined there both nights. The inn's rooms had traditional decor, were comfortable and clean. The indoor pool area had a pirate ship and tube slides for the kids, and hot tub for mom and dad. If you stay, be sure to do the historical walking tour across the street at the Jenny Grist Mill. It was fabulous! Plymouth Plantation was boring.

The people that work at the Hotel were very nice. The rooms are clean and a decent size.
The rooms smell musty, the bedding is horrible. The beds were so uncomfortable!
Sheets were pilling and the bedspread looked old and dated.
I spent 2 nights there and could not sleep due to the soft bed that sinks in the middle. Also the wall paper is peeling and there are many water stains on the ceiling.

the location was good, but I would give this place 2 stars

We stayed at the John Carver Inn last Thanksgiving because of the convenient location. We chose the John Carver last month, again because of the location; a member of our family was making her first trip to Plymouth. Last year we commented about the disrepair and the musty odors. Management may be addressing some of the issues because the smelly carpet in the elevator had been replaced with a hard surface.

Outside:
There was trash, cigarette remains, dirt and even a dead bird for days. It was obvious that the front drive, curb and sidewalk had not been cleaned prior to our arrival or during our stay.
The windows would have better showcased the beautiful chandelier had the windows been cleaned.
The planter was full of dead plants.

Now to the room:
Two drawers in the chest almost fell off their broken tracks onto my foot.
My cousin said that the chair in her room was about to lose an arm.
A smoker was somewhere on our non smoking floor for three of our six nights.
A wedding "party" partied and pounded on doors in the early morning hours, screaming that she did not care if she woke everyone!

The breakfasts were terrific, the staff was very friendly, the food vouchers would have been nice if we had been back to the hotel in time for the applicable lunch or dinner. The management took action with the reports of the wedding "party" and they were said to have been relocated to a lower floor.

The new ultra modern bar had just opened and in time for the wedding "party" and a class reunion during our stay, but it was a contrast to the unclean welcome outside.

For the price, we definitely feel as if we were entitled to expect more.
