Had the mussels special. Done to perfection. Paired with a great Chardonnay. They know how to make a good old fashioned as well.

Very good port available with dessert

A bit off the beaten path. Absolutely worth the hunt.

We were very lucky to get seats for the Rye Tavern's second Farmers' Dinner of the season, which was a real treat. Two of our party (of four) had eaten at the tavern before but it was our first visit, and we loved it. The old building is very atmospheric and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The Farmers' Dinners are a fixed menu, which is decided at the last minute by the chefs based on the fresh produce they are able to get from local farms. Drinks are included. Our dinner featured three hearty and delicious meat courses plus a rich dessert. Although I loved the meltingly tender beef short rib (with a terrific beer can porter sauce) for me, the highlight was the pasta dish. It was the best pasta I have eaten outside Italy: fresh fettucine with Italian sausage, tomatoes and zucchini, simple but absolutely superb. Each course (including the fab brownie dessert) came with an unexpected drink pairing, all of which were excellent.

Our only complaint was that the noise level in the rear of the restaurant was very high because of the large groups enjoying the special menu, but the staff were quite understanding and quickly moved us to a quieter spot. Had the weather been better, the Farmers' Dinner would have been held outside on the terrace, which is lovely.

Our sincere thanks to the tavern's hard-working and creative chefs and especially to Tia, who made us feel very welcome! We will definitely be back.

A farm to table food that is simply delicious ( they have their own garden ) .The menu changes every month depending what is available locally. It is nice atmosphere to have a drink , eat some nice food and have a nice time with friends. You get the feeling that old John Adams is still here listening to all the great conversations that are occurring .
