We did the whale watching trip on a beautiful fall day. It was sunny and a pretty calm day out on the water. We saw some birds, two seals, and a sun fish. They were all really cool. The excitement on the boat when we saw something was lots of fun. There were quite a few people, but there was enough room for everyone to see.

We did not see any whales :( BUT we did get a voucher that never expires to go back for a free whale watching trip! None of the other boats or other companies saw any whales this day either so that was a bummer but we had a lot of fun anyway and can't wait to go back!

We flew to Cape cod so we could get on the last trip of the season. We were joined with a healthy number of explorers and after a complimentary sea sickness pill we made sail! "Krill" our narrator was full of enthusiasm and knew her stuff and you could tell was passionate about marine life and this was not just a quick $$$. We travelled further out to see than I expected but after a while there it was a Fin back whale. Trying to get pictures was not easy on a boat rocking about in the seas with all the excitement. Then another whale joined the party so we had a barce surfacing every 5-10 minutes. The captain of the boat did well to catch the whales up when they surfaced so we all could get a view. It was a long full motor back to port and we arrived back 45 minutes later than expected as the team were so determined we would see a whale. A great experience I will not forget and good to be with people who enjoy nature and care for the environment and just not making money. See their blog: Captainjohnboats.blogspot.com we were on the 27 October trip.

We showed up on a Friday and despite the threat of "torrential downpours" we figured we would go ahead and give a try. My friend and I brought our two kids and it was windy, and chilly and wet but we had a FANTASTIC time. Since they had to cancel the afternoon trip they actually extended ours out since we had yet to see a whale. They went on a little further and not only did we get VERY close to a beautiful whale we also had a pod of about 70 dolphins swimming alongside the boat. In the end we were soaked and very chilly (although they did have some coffee and warm food to help with that) but had a great time..the guide "Krill" was super fin knowledgeable for both us and the kids..I would highly recommend it!!!

We received a Groupon for the whale watch tour, it ends in a week, I called spoke to them in the morning, they said come down we drove 1 hour only to be told they did not have enough people to go, they had about 20 need a minimum of 50, I feel he could have warned us before us we drove down....While we were there another car full of people showed up this was her 3rd time trying to do the whale watch only to be told they were not going out... So I can not say how the tour was, we never left the dock... but before you make the trip down be sure to ask how many people are booked for the tour, before you waste your time and gas only to be turned away...I hear the cape whale watching tours are better!

Hubs and I took a nice trip with Capt John over the weekend and we had a great (albeit cold and windy) time. Our guide, Carol a.k.a "Krill" was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable. Our boat did not get super close to the animals, but we also had to respect that we were in their territory, and did not want to scare them. (Oddly, other BIGGER boats were going right up to them, even circling them.). We learned that Capt John's boat has a special environmental certification that keeps the mammals protected. We had the delight of seeing dolphins during our excursion as well. It was a 4 hour tour. Recommend bringing a jacket, it gets windy and chilly on the water!
