I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but after visiting Mystic Seaport several times in the past, the Mayflower II wasnt as good as I expected. The constumed guides were excellent, but you had to speak to them to hear anything. I'm guessing this was consided to be a self guided tour and Ive been spoiled by only doing guided tours. The pricetag seemed high for the 40 minutes we were there. Cool ship though and in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed Plymouth overall.

This was a trip back in time. The ship master was in full costume and spoke in great detail about the conditions, and how he was hired for the job. Also inside was one of the single female servants that sailed. It was impeccably restored, and well worth the price. A good deal is to include the Plimoth Plantation with this - saves quite a bit of money.

When you are down at the Plymouth waterfront and after stopping to see The Rock it will be worth the time to tour The Boat. There were a number of experts on hand to answer in depth any questions you might have about the boat and how the Pilgrims were able to navigate to New England. Great place to walk about the waterfront with other attractions and shops to visit.

The first thing we noticed as we approached the Mayflower II was the long line of people waiting to get on. As they boarded, we took our time working our way through the historical information before the ship. As a result, the first area of the ship was less crowded. There are some historical actors on board, and most of them are informative. You can get some really great pictures of the whole ship a little ways from it at the nearby park.

We had a breezy warm sunny day to visit Mayflower II. We were impressed with the faithful detail in the re-creation. Hands on learning. The crew were clever and in their 1620's era character as they spoke with us. Master Jones the Captain was on board, a walking encyclopedia of the era. Another sailor pressed us into working the ship's hoist by four of us pushing large dowels to rotate a capstan, raised a barrel. We really got a feel for what it may have been like for the 132 passengers for 66 days, then that first fateful winter. Amazing to step out of our time into theirs. A labor of love by the crew and helpers. About one hour to tour, more if you read the displays and visit with crew in 1620's talk.
