“It's a cemetery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

I like cemeteries some do not. We were not on a tour. We went and looked for the white plaques to direct us to where settlers and their families were buried. Of course it is quiet and peaceful. Tour at your own pace.

“Lots of history!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Give yourself plenty of time to make the rounds as there is a lot of history packed into this graveyard. If you are not familiar with American history, be sure to do one of the graveyard or historical tours as it makes this destination highly engaging rather than just a unique stroll.

“very old cemetery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

If one is interested in genealogy this is a very interesting cemetery. The trees are very old as well. Many pilgrims buried year, but many of the tombstones are hard to read because of there age. You feel steeped in history here.

“Historic Wonder”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

Often overlooked parcel of history sits high on a hill with an amazing view of the harbor. This is the oldest graveyard in the country and is the final resting place for a few well known Pilgrims. The stones are one of a kind works of folk art and the long stretch it was used for allows you to see how the designs changed over time. Wander, here, feel the history beneath your feet, wonder about the lives of thos who came before you.

“First resting place of the Mayflower passengers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

A moving site to visit. Half of the first passengers on the Mayflower in 1620 didn't make it through the initial winter. To conceal their loss of strength from the Native Americans (who were not well known to them at the time), the settlers buried their dead in a large unmarked grave. Three hundred years later, their bones were moved to a monument nearby, overlooking Plymouth Rock. Their names are listed on the outside of the monument. Touching.
