My husband is related to John Howland so we made a point to visit this house. Two wonderful ladies showed us around the upstairs and downstairs of the house explaining in detail the family home, living during those times, and answering all of our questions. Wonderful home that has been beautifully maintained with old artifacts, furniture, and even the weaving loom.

Excellent tour! We had a wonderfully knowledgeable tour guide in period costume, who provided very interesting information! Great artifacts are there, some from the Howland family +/or relevant to the period. Well-worth the time!

When in Plymouth with a group of friends, we didn't have time to go to Plimouth Plantation, so we thought this would be a good, quick alternative. We arrived just in time for the last tour which they allowed us to join even though it had just started. We learned a great deal about the history of the Howland family and the house itself. It was quite amazing that the house has been there since the earliest days of Plymouth! There were lots of interesting artifacts to look at, several which belonged to the Howland family. There was also a display showing the many famous Howland descendants which was quite fun to look through! The tour only took about 25 minutes and it was well worth it - especially if you don't have a lot of time.

This is hallowed ground for any descendant of a Pilgrim. Not only did Elizabeth Tilley Howland and John Howland spend winters here with their son's family, Elizabeth lived here when John passed away. One has to imagine which of the other original Mayflower Pilgrims visited here and shared toast from the "toaster" or meat from the "gridiron" (yes, the terms originated with the items you will see first hand). The excellent guides are in period clothing and are doting descendants of the Howland family. The curator has done a magnificent job of artfully displaying original items to the home and some of the 390+ year-old artifacts recovered from their homestead at Rocky Nook. The Jabez Howland House is near Town Brook where the Pilgrims actually used the stream for their crops, cooking and washing clothes. This is a fascinating piece of my own family's history and we are grateful to the Pilgrim John Howland Society for maintaining this special home for us to share.

Truly enjoyed the private tour of this home and the pains taken by the workers to maintain the historical character of the home. My guide was very informative. As a new native to the town I am doing a little sightseeing of the town and this was the first of many visits.
