“A legend in Pittsfield.”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

The Highland always delivers on its promise to provide a wholesome, hearty meal at very affordable prices. It is not gourmet, nor does it want to be, but it provides an honest, stick-to-the-ribs, satisfying meal with generous portions in a relaxed environment. Some may describe it as a family restaurant, but I have yet to suffer the screams and shenanigans of infants and children in any of its three rooms.

The pastas have a homemade sauce that is far from the bland stuff served at restaurants in this price range, and the Italian bread is scrumptious. The chicken parmesan sandwich will fill you in the best manner of comfort food, as will the hot turkey sandwich. The pasta and mushrooms and the pasta fagioli (Fridays) are personal favorites. Follow it up with one of the homemade cream pies (especially the chocolate!) and you be pleasantly sated.

Owner Pasquale Arace is usually on hand to make sure all holds to the standards his family established many years ago and which have made this place a Pittsfield legend in its class.

“Good food”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The spaghetti is popular with plate after plate passing by but my favorite is the roasted pork tenderloin. It is tender, moist, and lean. I don't believe it's on the menu on Fridays though. And keep in mind they are closed on Mondays. I've heard their onion rings are great and I plan to order them next visit. The restaurant is outdated but the food is good and the price is right.

“Local Favorite”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Being from the area we frequent the Highland Restaurant quite often. The Highland has been around forever and is a local favorite. The food and the prices can't be beat. Pasta is always served with crusty Italian bread and I love the house dressing for the salad. Some of our favorites: veal scallopini, spaghetti with sausage and peppers, scallops and spaghetti and chicken parm. Portions are such that I always have leftovers. The waitstaff is top notch and always pleasant. They know most folks by name. Stop in when you are in the area, you won't be sorry. Take out is also available and portions are just as generous as if you were dining in.

“A hometown favorite”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

It's always a treat to have dinner at the Highland. This restaurant has been in Pittsfield for many, many years and is consistently good with generous portions. Our favorites include the veal scallopini, spaghetti with mushrooms, and the fried scallop platter. It is a casual place where you can get good food at reasonable prices. Sports memorabilia gives the place a local flair. I recommend a slice of one of the cream pies for dessert .

“75 years in Pittsfield am I'm the first to review?”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

Really the Highland needs no review...but for a local visitor...

Every town should have a restaurant like the Highland...and in Pittsfield, it IS the Highland.

Nothing fancy, great food of all types and perhaps the best value ever. For lunch or a family dinner...nothing better!
