“Relaxing and Awesome”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

This is a great place to take a walk any time of the year. The hikes are amazing. There are several waterfalls and an old gritts mill to view. I carried my 14 month old in a back pack, but much of the trail was stroller friendly. There is no cost to park. Only downside was that they were out of trail maps, but you can download the PDF before you go.

“Beautiful Little Park - Great for Dog-Walking!”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

Moore State Park is a wonderful place to take in some nature and get some exercise walking around the trails and paved paths. I haven't seen the park yet when the flowers are in bloom, but I can't wait! Throughout the park there are huge rhododendrons and azaleas lining certain paths that I'm sure are incredible at peak season.

I bring my puppy over for a walk every so often, as there is a paved road (not open to traffic) that takes you through the main part of the area - perfect for on-leash dog walking, as many people have discovered. Most of us seem to pick up after them pretty well, as the park is very clean and beautiful!

There is a brook that through flows through the park, and a casual walk through uncovers cute little surprises such as a few well-placed Adirondack chairs overlooking a pond and a "Healthy Heart" trail.

Overall, this is a nice little place to get in a quiet little walk through the woods!

“Peaceful walks, fabulous garden, tranquil stream.”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

Moore State Park is located of Rte 31 near the Paxton Spencer town line.'
It features an old (1747) gristmill complete with water wheel and streams. It's picturesque. There are trails around the upper pond. You can picnic by the water fall (this is not a huge waterfall, just a quiet peaceful one!) Good place to feed the kids, let them explore and let off steam.

In the spring the azaleas and rhododendrums bloom endlessly as this once was a private estate, and the owners planted these everywhere.

There are shorter trails and some longer ones around the pond etc. It can get 'buggy' in the spring with black flies and in the summer evenings with mosquitoes as there is pond and wetland.

Parking lot is a fair distance from the mill and there is limited parking closer to the mill itself so if you are a senior and can't do a hike - on a roadway, check out the smaller parking area first.

Just a quiet peaceful place, slightly off the beaten path.
