It really is a shame that this place isn't good. I live right down the street and keep going back, hoping to like it. I prefer local privately owned restaurants over chain restaurants. The staff is very friendly and nice, but the food is absolutely horrible. I have been here over a dozen times and tried several menu items. Unfortunately, you can remodel the place but unless you change the food quality, this place is still terrible. Same menu as before, with only a few new items. The safest bet is a burger or appetizers. For a restaurant that claims to be Italian, the sauce tastes like it is from a can, the pasta is definitely from a box. I ordered a steak and the piece was so fatty I couldn't get a knife through it. I hate sending food back, but the very nice waitress noticed I wasn't eating and asked what was wrong. She was overly apologetic, but I have never been to a restaurant, even a chain restaurant, where you send back a meal because it is inedible and a manager doesn't visit your table. No apology, nothing. That is just rude. They lost a local who would have made this place a weekly stop, if only the food was better.

I have not been to this area in a couple of years. I was on my way to Charlton and saw that Periwinkles was no longer there. I was a frequent customer there a couple years ago. It was a very outdated atmosphere. I had dinner with my wife by the bar. The makeover that has taken place is incredible. They have changed a 3 star atmosphere to a 5 star. My wife ordered the eggplant parmesan which was a huge portion. She was able to have the leftover for lunch. I had the Chicken Appianna which had so much taste & flavor. I would recommend this new Italian Grill to anyone. Even the bathrooms last time i was there they were bright yellow now they even have a tv in there with basketball on. Great Job

Recent visit, was expecting great changes to interior, didn't see any. Service was good. The food was mediocre at best. They always say you can judge the cleanliness of a restaurant by how clean they keep the restrooms, well they were horrid. Nothing but cold water coming out of the faucets, how does the help clean their hands to handle the food they serve? No we won't be back. Salad bar was nothing special. The food was served cold, sent my potato back and it came back cold a second time, didn't bother for a third try. Just don' know what people consider good food these days, I must be out of the loop because this place served mediocre dishes, absolutely nothing special for the prices charged. The three of us in
our party agreed , not returning anytime soon, clean up the ladies room and the men's s room, they are pretty disgusting.

Arrived for lunch and were immediately seated. Dining room consists of mostly booths.More table seating near function area. Salad bar has LOTS to offer in addition to the two hot soups you can choose from or, try both! Good Italian food. Italian sandwich and a glass of wine at lunch! Great company and great lunch! Italian sandwich can be filling lunch if you do the salad bar too! Chicken parmesean and pastas cooked to perfection with marinara. Server friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

My wife and I had lunch 1-21-13 and would go back anytime.
the psinch anddip appetizer came with warm, grilled pita wedges, Plenty of spinach, maybe too much cheese.
Her viggie lasagna and my turkey shepard's pie were both great and there was plenty to take home for another meal.
The house wines are good, and are served in glasses that let the wine breathe.
We indulged in dessert, and it was good and light enough to finish even though the appetizer and main course wwere quite filling.

We plan to go back ourselves and bring others with us.
