“Great place for breakfast - homey atmosphere!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

The Farmington River Diner is only about 15 minutes from our home, so it's a favorite for Saturday breakfast. They are open to 2ish according to their sign and that's true. If business is slow they may shut down sooner, but they stay open a little longer if it's busy. Service is friendly and uncomplicated. Patrons can feel free to top off their own coffee or soft drinks if the servers are otherwise occupied. But don't mistake that for lack of attention. They are a great group of people ghat work there. Breakfast in particular is nearly always served quickly and is made to order. Two scrambled eggs, a generous portion of home fries and an English muffin is just $5.25. The omelets are huge and are around $7.00 depending on what kind you get. The coffee is great and they will happily make a new pot upon request. I've never had any lunch items but they look good and have a nice variety of options. The atmosphere is rustic and homey. Pine booths with very high backs afford privacy yet it's a very friendly environment and popular amongst locals and weekenders alike. The open rafters and walls are decorated with interesting collectibles. There's a bakery case filled with tempting pastries and a few little souvenirs for sale too. Kids are welcome...everyone is! Great place not to be missed. Easy to find on Route 8 in Otis, MA.

“Great little restaurant!”
Reviewed September 4, 2011

We ate here several times while camping at nearby Tolland State Forest over 4th of July weekend 2011. It's an authentic, non-chain restaurant, cozy and homey and very popular. We had a very pleasant experience each time (once with friends). A special mention is in order for their pumpkin pancakes with (optional--for $2.50 more) real maple syrup. I don't even usually like pancakes, but ordered these after others raved about the blueberry variety. They were amazingly good, actually craving-inducing. After a couple of months of trying to plan trips so they'd take me by that area so I could have more, we're breaking down tomorrow and driving 1.5 hours on a pancake pilgrimage for Labor Day. It's a beautiful drove up Rt. 8, with the bubbling river beside the road.

“Great country cooking”
Reviewed March 17, 2011

The diner is like a mini Cracker Barrel restaurant. Antiques and knick nacks give the place a quaint charm. I had an omlette and husband had blueberry pancakes. We were both very happy with the serving sizes and food quality. It's not often that I get to steal some of his pancakes!
