They have lots of soups, sandwiches in addition to all the baked goods, but if you like cinnamon donuts, the dirt bomb is for you - basically a muffin-shaped donut.

On the advice of a friend, we stopped by the Cottage Street Bakery several years ago and ever since we have made it a "must have" destination when on the Cape. We have had several cakes made there for special occasions, and all our guests have remarked on the quality. The pastries are worth the trip by themselves; be sure and get there early on weekends, because they sell out many of their specialites in a few hours. Don't be dismayed by the lines; the staff is helpful and efficient and they move people along in good order. Any of their fruit-filled pastries are a good bet, but if you have a sweet tooth, their "dirt bombs" are awesome (ONE per child, thank you!). The pies are wonderful, the bread is uniformly tasty, and do't forget to get a cake if you have a group to help you consume it.

A great little bakery, tucked away on a side street near the intersection of Routes 28 and 6A. Owned by a French baker, we found it years ago and got our wedding cake from them. Now every year we stop in. Load up on their famed Dirt Bomb muffins and other goodies, and take it all to nearby Nauset Beach to enjoy our little pastry feast. Their pasties never disappoint. In addition to their Dirt Bombs, I enjoy their raspberry-blueberry muffins and croissants. There's a few tables for eating in, but why, when the ocean or town cove are so close?

What this place lacks in space makes up for in very good bakery items and soup, sandwich, etc. for lunch. Maybe a little hard to find off Rt28 "corner" with 6a in Orleans to the left side street looking at "The Lost Dog's" front door. Look for Cottage street. Great Ice Cream shop near there too!
Hard to find a real GOOD "Bakery" (besides Hyannis) on Cape. Stop by for lunch or take it home.

Went to the Cottage Street Bakery to get sandwhiches to take to the beach. We ordered turkey sandwhiches on multi-grain bread. The bread was dry and tasteless and the sandwich was very unappealing. The chocolate chip cookie was just ok. I wouldn't return.
