Description: Mac Gallant and Mike McNamara have teamed up to launch the "New" Jailhouse Tavern. The new Lunch/Dinner menu is a nice combination of some of the old favorites which have been significantly enhanced in terms of quality, preparation and taste. In addition, Executive Chef Ashley Cole alongside Sous Chef Robert Askew serve up an array of new and exciting offerings that we can't wait for you to see and try! Mac has been the owner/operator of The Local Break in Eastham for the past 6 years which will continue operations at its current location. Mike has been a partner in the Jailhouse for the last 5 years and has been focused on the creation and development of the Hog Island Beer Company which will be entering into its 3rd summer this June. We look forward to sharing our craft and welcoming you back to the Jailhouse Tavern. Cheers!

Each time my granddaughters come to Cape Cod they request a dinner at the Old Jailhouse. We celebrated a birthday there and they couldn't have been more attentive to the birthday girl. I have booked a large gathering there for December and have nothing but positive things to say about the booking process and the friendly, helpful office staff. The quality of the food matched the top notch service.

We happened to fall upon this Tavern on our travels around Cape Cod and absolutely loved it, I cannot remember the waitresses name but she was absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We found the prices as reasonable and I had the scallops which I am sure I cannot ever have again at any other restaurant as they will not be the same as at The Old Jailhouse. We sat beside the jailhouse bars and the atmosphere in this little place is gorgeous. Outside is a lovely garden to wander in and even the toilets were lovely! I cannot find anything about this place to knock down, it is all good and you will be happy you went there too, a real jem.

Much smaller menu than a year ago and some of their favorites are no longer available. Still like the atmosphere, especially in the bar area where you can see the jail bars, etc. Will not return anytime soon, which is too bad because there aren't many restaurants open later in the off season.

To get a feel for the area, just visit the Old Jailhouse Tavern. We frequently go there for special occasions or just for a night out. It really was a jail at one time!

We've been to Jailhouse quite a few times, and have always loved the food. Their clam chowder is among the very best. But this visit several in our party ordered from the special Oktoberfest menu, specifically the sauerbraten. The meat and gravy were excellent, and the accompanying German potato salad was quite good. But when one orders sauerbraten with red cabbage, one expects the very traditional sweet and sour red cabbage. Unfortunately this dish came with several chunks of both red and green cabbage that apparently had been boiled in plain water and not cooked along with the meat. The result was totally bland, tasteless stuff. A real disappointment. To add insult to injury, the dish included a piece of apple strudel, which would have been excellent had it not been placed in the center of the same dish as the meat, gravy, potato salad and cabbage, touching all of them. Yuck.
