“Can't get enough!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

If you visit the island and don't make it a point to eat at this establishment you're cheating yourself and your taste buds out of the ultimate dining experience. I can't say enough about Ben's cooking and the staff at this little eat joint. My only regret is that we didn't eat here more often while we were on the island. Besides the ridiculously delicious food we loved the atmosphere that you can't seem to find anywhere else on island. Top notch all the way around and if you do stop by make sure to try the island fresca!

“Started off on the wrong foot but ended up to be an excellent dinner”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We arrived for an 8 PM dinner reservation only to discover that it was going to be a long wait to get a table for 4. The young woman in charge (with the red hair) explained she was covering for someone and would do her best to get us a table. This was on a Monday night no less. FInally we settled in and had a delicious meal. Started with tater tots, brussel sprouts and onion rings and then for entree scallops and vegetarian plate. All were excellent and the service was relatively quick. Overall what started out poorly ended up to be an excellent meal.

“Cozy Island Gastronomic Pleasure”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We were in Oak Bluffs and decided to have dinner on our last night, Saturday night at The Red Cat. Great decision! The restaurant is located a block or so off the water in the central area of town. A few outside tables on the deck and two smallish areas for seating inside. Reservations seemed mandatory. The food was terrific and the atmosphere charming and colorful with a very friendly service staff. Although quite pricey for a casual setting, the portions are large and satisfaction assured. We were glad we were there.

“A year later: still outstanding”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Because I don't make it to the Vineyard as much as I'd like, Ben Deforest's food and Sarah Omer's hospitality has been only the stuff of my dreams since last August. Two return trips this week did not disappoint. The Island Fresca soup continues to be one of my all time favorite dishesl. Ribeye, fish, risotto, grits, Brussels sprouts... All prepared with skill and great imagination. Just go. Get a cocktail or two, enjoy the ambience and pat yourself on the back for making such a great choice. After two nights of Red Cat bliss, we made the mistake of going to another OB restaurant a few blocks down the street. The fish served on grits was a soggy and pale imitation, at best. Don't settle for uninspired fare. Go to the Red Cat and let Ben and Sarah treat you right.

“fantastic”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

This could well be the best meal I've had on the Vineyard! While unable to get a last minute reservation, we were invited to sit at the bar where we could order from the full menu. The bartender, Tomas was very welcoming - making the choice to sit at the bar an easy one. We started with the brussel sprouts, green beans and the night's special gnocchi. We could have happily stopped there, but went on the scallops and the bass. Every single bite was amazing - it's rare to taste food that is so perfectly executed and flavorful. That was days ago and we are still talking about our dinners and scheming for when we can go the Red Cat again!
