Wonderful inn and great staff, would come back anytime. The location is ideal, quiet but close to marina and main street, beach gear is available to guests and there is a refreshment room with coffee available all day

We have been to the inn many times under the old owners. We enjoyed each and every stay. The continental breakfasts were wonderful the rooms were very clean, and the supplies and amenities were bountiful.
Well this year under the new owners things were very different. The room is very pretty, but the bathroom was dirty, hair on the floor and the ceiling fan in the bathroom was disgusting. The room had two bottles of water and chips. Very nice. But they never replaced them and I had to ask for more plastic cups because they took ours. We ran out of toilet paper (they never left a spare roll). My husband asked for a roll. The next day we again needed a roll of toilet paper. When I went to ask for one (which in its self is rediculous) the woman in the lobby said to me " didn't your husband just ask for one yesterday?" I was so shocked I was at a loss for words The continental breakfast was almost non existant and they did not have decaf. My husband went to the corner every day to get me a cup. Terrible service, Terrible amenities

Room Tip: We would not recommend this inn to anyone

Chris -

Thank you for sending along your feedback about our lovely inn. We would really like to respond to your points of disapproval and disappointment. The past owners took great pride in running a classic bed & breakfast - and we are aware of the features of a bed & breakfast. When we assumed ownership we delved deep into what type of hotel we wanted to run, what our competencies as owners were, and how we could subsequently drive business in the extended community by choosing the offerings of our property. What we came up with was that we wanted primarily to be innkeepers, we wanted to focus solely on offering our guests a comfortable, updated and high quality room night, and we wanted to drive business to those restaurants in the community who very obviously provide a better breakfast meal than we ever could. Therefore we decided to offer limited breakfast foods and share with our guests our love for our local restaurants and diners. Someone once said the only way to be great is to do one thing better than anyone else - we decided to focus on the hotel and not on being a restaurant as well. So again we are not a bed & breakfast - we don't advertise or market a continental breakfast. What we offer was never considered or defined as a continental breakfast, at the end of the day what we offer in the sunroom in morning is merely an added feature - one that we don't charge for or tack on to the cost of your room.

As for the perceived cleanliness of your room - when we assumed ownership of the hotel we decided to keep the past housekeeping staff who themselves conveyed and uphold the past standards of cleanliness, they take their job very seriously and are quite upset that you believe their work to be sub par as compared to last year being that nothing has changed.

The toilet paper issue continues to confuse us as hotel owners and operators. Having run hotels in Oak Bluffs for years there is a very tried and true average of how much toilet paper is used by guests over the course of a stay. We apologize that our housekeepers were merely following past standards of replenishment. If you needed more toilet paper for an alternative or personal reason it might have been more appropriate to pull the housekeeper aside and explain your situation. Toilet paper is very inexpensive and the cost is borderline negligible to us - we would be happy to work with your situation but we need to be made aware of your increased need. We don't know what we don't know and therefore a simple explanation to a manager or a housekeeper as to why would have been helpful - instead of being "shocked and at a loss for words" maybe a simple explanation - our housekeepers are doing the best they can and without further knowledge they are going to follow protocol.

Change is always hard. And we are very sorry you don't see the quality of the updates from our perspective. We decided to invest in the rooms and that we did. We decided to offer one of the highest quality rooms in Oak Bluffs and give business to those food establishments who will always offer a better food product than us, and we are proud to divert that role to them.

We are sorry you did not have a positive stay.

My husband and I wanted to spend a few days (one night) on Martha's Vineyard after a few days on the Cape and I started doing some research for a hotel on the island. I hadn't heard of The Dockside Inn but am so glad I found it! We were in Room 35 which is a private suite over the Beach Gear/Ice Machine room- it was perfect for my husband and I and our 6 year old! The renovations are beautiful, the Solarium provided some good snacks and coffee and the hot tub & outdoor shower are fantastic! We loved how easy it was to make the Inn our home base while we explored the rest of the island and the convenience to the HyLine Ferry couldn't be beat! Great accommodations and the staff were absolutely wonderful. It's a definite YES.

Room Tip: Room 35 is a private suite- excellent for a romantic or family stay!

Our stay at the Dockside Inn was fantastic. It is centrally located with bars, shopping, and dining all around. Our room was very clean and very well appointed. The amenities are great. The staff was super friendly and helpful, including Loomis which helped us figure everything out. The homemade cookies are the best we've ever had. Tiffany (the redhead) is very cool!

Our stay at the Dockside inn was very enjoyable. We have made reservations for next year. The staff really made this the perfect place to stay while vesting Martha's Vineyard.
It has been over fifteen years since i have been to the Vineyard. I have always looked forward to bringing my family here. I finally had the opportunity this summer to make it happen. Our stay at the Dockside inn made this special vacation truly memorable.
