Food is consistantly good, the service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are reasonable for a great restaurant! We've been going for years and have never been dissapointed! Try it, you'll like it!

Romianes has been tops on our list since our first visit years ago. I have yet to find a better, more consistent steak anywhere including all the big name, big price steak places. My wife loves the too infrequent venison specials and the always on the menu duck. The fallen chocolate cake is to die for! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

If it's an important occasion, we have special company, or we just have a few extra bucks, Romaine's in Northborough is always our destination of choice. The menu is downright exciting, and never quite the same twice. If you are a pork chop fan, stop and go no further on the menu. This is the best pork chop that I have ever had. You wish it would never end. Romaine's is creative, attentive, and, while certainly not inexpensive, well worth the money. If you've already eaten, and you go by Romaine's, stop in and have a dessert. The fallen chocolate cake is spectacular, as is the creme brulee. We've never gone wrong there, and we're sure you'll enjoy it, too.

We travel to Northborough a few times a year for business and the one thing we look forward to is Romaine's. The service is always friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. The food is a treat after a long day of work. I have always had a memorable meal.

As background I live a mile away and go to Romaines about once a month.

There are many positives: the best duck around, great soups and salads, a short and sweet appetizer and small plate selection, some good sauces, good wine list, and an addition and sound proofing that makes the overall dining experience much more sane -- this is a very, very popular place, doubtless a gold mine in a part of Massachusetts that offers a lot of good, but not brilliant cuisine.

Negatives? Yes. Drinks are overpriced, service can be pretentious and dismally slow, particularly getting that first drink -- the small bar gets crowded and the bar tender falls behind easily. Other minor disappointments include a very inconsistent email list, a web site that is not always clear about when the restaurant is open (it often closes for special events) and a menu that, while it does change seasonally, could use a little more imagination.

At the end of the day this could be a truly excellent restaurant if some of the service and pricing issues were addressed thoughtfully.
