Four of us had dinner at Spoleto's during Northampton's Restaurant Week. Our food was outstanding - shrimp & lobster ravioli(appetizer); Maine lobster spaghettini (entree); and chocolate Panna Cotta (dessert). The restaurant was VERY busy, but our server was excellent.

Spoleto's is a bit pricey compared to some of the other places to eat but the atmosphere is very upscale & the food is the best. If they don't have it on the menu, they will make it for you. Love this place & had a great birthday dinner here.

Spoleto Restaurant has relocated to the former site of Del Raye, after a couple of other less successful experiments. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and the excellent service. The best dishes are the small plates of pasta and traditional Italian seafood. The chef really knows about fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces--and the simplicity that makes Italian food so good. Our waiter was excellent and unflappable, on a very busy night, with some difficult customers near our table. We felt welcome and well-fed.

Totally messed up our reservation. We ended up eating dry overcooked steaks to avoid missing our daughter's last night festivities prior to graduation. The Manager and Owner blamed each other. Then the Owner wanted to "make it up to us" as we were running out the door. His last defense was that he was in business for 26 years with no complaints. Really?? He has bigger problems than not knowing how to run a restaurant. It's called arrogance.

We ate here to celebrate graduation dinner from UMass Amherst. We thought we were lucky to get a reservation which was challenging in the area that night. Atmosphere was nice, and the server was extremely energetic and encouraging! Based on his recommendations, we were expecting a fantastic meal. Eight people and we were all disappointed. Everything was kind of bland. The best part of the meal was the bread served with fresh ricotta and oil. The ricotta was delicious, the second serving of bread was too well done. Had recommended salads and some raw bar as appetizers. The salad was disappointing. Several people had the chicken parm and several others the cioppino. And a couple others the fish special. Everybody basically felt the same, nothing tasted very exciting. It was especially disappointing because the server gave such a big buildup of how outstanding the dishes were, when we were ordering. Not his fault, but terribly disappointing! Spent a lot for a large group and it was too bad that it wasn't memorable. We usually don't write negatively. Unfortunately nothing had any flavor. Especially odd for an Italian restaurant, where you usually can spell the aromas outside!
