We got a nice Priceline deal on a night here. I always wanted to stay here. Charming little motel in a great college town. It was clean, thoughtfully appointed, perfect for an overnight, handy to Northampton and the shops and campuses. We were greeted warmly, and in the morning another desk person, equally welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: We preferred and enjoyed a ground floor room.

I recently stayed in the Autumn Inn for at least the sixth time, all connected with visits to Smith College and family in the area. For visiting Smith, there is no better location: it's virtually across the street from the Quad and Admissions is a five-minute walk. ALERT: if planning to stay for Family Weekend or Graduation, book the day that reservations open up, otherwise you may be too late, they have something like only 30 rooms.

The Autumn Inn is a B&B-style hotel. Not at all flashy, a bit dated in some ways. But the rooms are decent size, the beds are comfortable, the free breakfast (including waffles) is nice and the breakfast room very pleasant, and the location make for a satisfying stay...I always look forward to it.

For comparison, I find the Hotel Northampton to be too pricey and both a bit "fussy" and claustrophobic, while the Clarion is pretty bland & non-descript.

Looking forward to my next trip there though it may be another 2-4 years.

We stayed in this refurbished motel on a trip to visit colleges around Smith. The motel is literally across the street from campus. It's adequate and comfortable, but not particularly charming or elegant. We had an excellent rate through Hotwire.com; if I had paid their full rate I would have definitely been less happy with the hotel. Adequate continental breakfast was offered. Staff was friendly and informative about the area.

We found the Autumn Inn charming and very comfortable. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the beds and pillows were great. The continental breakfast was fine, though the coffee was not the best. It is located very close to Northampton, a great little city to visit. The air conditioner was a little wonky but the temperature was okay nevertheless. We were impressed by the cute, complimentary bicycles but did not get a chance to use them.

This was my first experience visiting the college town of Northampton, Mass. My daughter and I wanted to stay in a comfortable and affordable place near Smith College and this fit our needs and budget just right! We could walk to the college as the Inn is only a few scenic blocks away and we liked that it is nestled into a neighborhood and so was quiet at night for sleeping. Loved seeing the 2-story custom treehouse next door, too!

We had thought about staying in the center of town but are glad that we didn't...our room fit our needs fine - everything was super clean...we did have to jiggle the toilet handle however to get it to stop running, but no big deal. Nice pro waffle iron & fresh fruit available @ breakfast and the big warming fireplace was great on a rather cool & damp morning...Coffee and tea are available 24/7 and the desk helpers were very helpful and pleasant.

We plan to stay here again.

Almost on campus. Nothing outstanding, except the massive fireplace (a whole wall - really) in the inviting breakfast area. If it is cool or cold weather, there will be a nice, warming fire in the morning with your coffee and newspaper. Worth geting up early in order to have a fireside easy chair and coffee before breakfast. This great room is comfy and never gets noisy. (We were here for three nights.) Heck, you're on campus so you needn't make your first appointment before 10 AM. A hundred bucks is more than I want to pay, but everything was more than adequate and I am behind the times in re prices. Everything was fine - you would have to look for it to find something to complain about, though I am getting tired of those waffel makers and would prefer more fruit. Not a complaint.

It's a basic b&b style motel. Rooms aren't flash but they are adequate. I couldn't get my heater to work but even so the room wasn't cold. They have updated televisions with cable tv. Breakfast is basic and includes a make it yourself waffle station. Not a flash hotel but okay, I thought it was overpriced for what you get but I'm assuming they are charging for business people making a visit to smith college. Northampton is a nice town but nothing to write home about, I was expecting it to be more alternative but it's just a country town trying to be Greenwich village. Overall wouldn't stay again but you could do worse.
