“A funky, friendly, granola-crunchy breakfast joint”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Green Bean is a great place for breakfast/brunch (which they serve until 3PM). Their menu is funky and healthy (lots of local greens, vegan/vegetarian options, non-gluten choices), and they will let you make the dish just the way you want by having a very flexible substitution policy. The service is very friendly and cheerful, and so is the decor and the crowd. All in all, a quintessential New England college town breakfast joint.

“Best breakfast spot in the valley.”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

You won't find a better place for breakfast. Food is hot, innovative, tea is perfectly served and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Plus you can actually have a conversation there.

“Gem of a place!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

My husband and kids took me here for Mother's Day lunch. Lots of great veggie options and even healthy choices for the kids (such as apples with pb). Great prices, Incredibly friendly staff. Love that a lot is organic and local when possible. Overall, just exactly the kind of vibe I like and want in a restaurant. Go! You won't be disappointed. I got the Greenos Huevos Beanos, which was excellent. My husband got a veggie reuben which he thought was the best one he has had.

“Fresh, local food; gluten-free available; nice staff”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

I like knowing I'm supporting local farmers by eating at Green Bean, and they have the best breakfasts in town. The menu has great veg choices, but this is the kind of food meat-eaters like, too. Their scones are actually biscuits, and can be a little heavy, but the pancakes are fantastic and can be had with real maple syrup, as opposed to that corn syrup that passes for real in other breakfast establishments.

Staff is friendly and efficient. My only complaint is the breakfast potatoes, which resemble rocks. I honestly don't understand how the cooks can get it all right except for the potatoes, and I've been eating here since the place opened. If you want great breakfast taters, go to Haymarket up the street.
