The whole campus is beautiful. Check out the waterfall too. A free, peaceful, place to take a stroll, have a picnic, or do some people watching. Northampton is famous for people watching.

The Smith College Botanic Gardens holds an annual bulb show in the spring which is lovely -- usually it occurs when the actual spring weather outdoors has not quite arrived, so it is a wonderful antidote to those "winters blahs" of a New England March and early April. But the greenhouse is well worth a visit at any time of the year. Come in mid-winter and warm up in the always-steamy tropical plant room where you can see bananas, cocoa and coffee beans growing, as well as other exotic tropical plants. Watch goldfish swim in the pond in another room, and if you come at the right time you may find oranges and lemons ripening on their trees. As a Northampton resident the Botanic Gardens is a place I always take out-of-town visitors, in any season.

The botanic garden is small but delivers. There are trees, flowers and art to check out. The exhibit includes a walk through the greenhouses.

This is another gem to stop and see in MA. The greenhouses were fascinating. The collection of 150 types of wood from around the world was unique. The plants were lovely. We also enjoyed walking outside and seeing more of the outdoor gardens. Pick up a brochure detailing these as there are quite a few on the grounds of the college. The setting overlooking the Connecticut River also adds to the lovely scene. We enjoyed driving around the Northampton town and looking at all of the pretty unique houses and buildings.

The Botanic Garden is free (donated requested), and open most days from 10-4. It features a dozen rooms with varied temperature and humidity, as well as periodic big events. This is a lovely place for families to explore if they are near the Smith College campus.
