“A very nice beach escape”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We booked a room at Horizons to be closer to family members who were staying in a rented house. Horizons is a great, laid back hotel/motel with a really nice view of the bay. This is the kind of hotel/motel you come to for a relaxing non-pretentious vacation. We had a room on the 1st floor (next time I would request 2nd fl) (also all rooms face the beach) and when we were sitting on our little private deck, everyone who walked by was super friendly and engaged in conversation. Having the beach right outside your door makes for a great get-a-way.
No matter how you slice it, there's nothing like waking up and looking out your window to the view of the water. We also slept with the windows open, listening to the waves breaking all night long - a very soothing sound.
The only reason I didn't give Horizons a 5 star is due to the decor which probably could be updated a bit and the towels (as other reviewers have noted). That being said, the manager was great and I would definitely come back.
Helpful hint - bring your beach/bath towels and toiletries.

Room Tip: If you like privacy, request a 2nd fl room.

This motel efficiency is perfect for a family that wants a quiet vacation at the beach, with a pool, and an air conditioned room including full kitchen so you can cook and eat in to save money. The beach is nice and quiet, and you can hop in your car to go to any of the several nearby state and federal beaches. The shuttle to and from Ptown stops right outside the motel so you can visit Provincetown, enjoy it, but get back to a quiet place each night. The A/C in the room is great, very chilly and drones out any noise from outside or neighboring rooms. You should take your own shampoo and conditioner, beach towels (they give you thin white towels which are adequate for showering), a roll of paper towels, napkins, Kleenex box. sugar packets, food, condiments, and any other groceries. However, if you forget something, there's a convenience store down the street (hop on that shuttle and get off at the Cottages), where you can buy just about anything, including anything you need for cooking, tanning, showering, whatever. There is no gym, fitness room, or restaurant onsite, but there are restaurants very nearby. The motel is a bit dated but it doesn't claim to be a W hotel. It's a motel, not a fancy resort or big hotel, but a very affordable, clean, and convenient motel, and one that we will re-visit since we love going to the Cape and being near Ptown without being in the middle of it day and night.

Room Tip: No elevator so request a ground floor room if you can't haul your luggage or things up/down the...

We just got back from our 'Cape Escape' and we were very pleased with our choice of hotel for this vacation. We stayed five nights at Horizon Beach Resort and would love to go back there soon. Biggest pros: Clean room with a great kitchen (great for keeping snacks and cold drinks) - great water pressure for showers - quiet area for the most part - private balcony (great to hang wet beach clothing) - great air conditioner (consistent noise , not loud but soothing, to block out outside noises - table and chairs in room for easy dining and computer use - great tv viewing - plenty of storage drawers for personal belongings - absolutely gorgeous view of the ocean - shuttle stop right outside in front of hotel ($2.00 each way to P-town) absolutely the best way to get around. No parking fees, convenient, comes every half hour, clean shuttle, you can't beat the shuttle (We only had a $20.00 bill and they don't make change, BUT, they do give you a shuttle credit ticket with the remainder of the change and we were able to travel on that for the rest of the week) - Restaurant within walking distance that serves a quality breakfast and lunch at a great price - Easy access to the pool and beach area.

Understand that I have NO gripes about this hotel - It's an excellent place to stay but it is only fair if I put the cons out there so you can make an informed decision. Biggest Cons: Typical lightweight, on the rough side, towels for bathing. - Hotel is a little dated but kept up very well - Bedspread, which appeared clean, is outdated and should be replaced with a simple top sheet and blanket sandwich followed by a runner on the foot of the bed (and add a bedskirt) - If you're staying in the upper building you have to walk up a short moderate hill to access your room through the entrance in the back.- Seaweed on beach, but plenty of clean sand to lay your blankets and chairs.

In my opinion, these were not deal-breaker cons. You can't beat the stay at this hotel for the money. Just knowing ahead of time what the cons are you won't stress on the small stuff once you get there and you'll have a great vacation. Very happy customer.

I had booked another place, but when we got there we found the place disgusting and filthy. So we started driving around and was thrilled when I saw a vacancy sign at Horizons Beach. They didn't,t have anything until Tuesday but we booked anyway. Imagine my surprise when they called me to say they had found a way to take us in that very day!

The place is super clean, well appointed and comfortable. What a pleasure!

They really saved our vacation and went above and beyond for us. Their care and customer service is amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the to anyone.

I booked ahead for the 4th of July weekend which was surprisingly very affordable! We stayed at the unique Pagoda complex and even though we got a ground floor front room, we still had a great view of the ocean only seconds across the street. Would definitely recommend getting a 2nd or 3rd flr front unit at the Pagodas which I will make a point to do next time around. Room was decent with two double beds and cute little kitchenette with a hot plate heater and kitchen items provided. I would advise you bring a tissue box as that was one thing I noticed missing for a basic room. Also you'll need to bring your own toiletries as only little bars of soap is provided. The other thing missing is wi-fi although during the day you can snag a free network for a certain time so you really need to be prepared not to have access to internet all the time.

There is a shuttle service ($2/one way) that takes you into P-town (~15 minutes away) which stops by every half hour which is so convenient when you don't want to worry about having a DD. This is what we did on the 4th then went back to the hotel to watch the fireworks across P-town by the beach at night! The beach water is surprisingly warm though the cons is that the water is kind of murky which can be a bit scary. If you don't want to swim in the beach, there is a nice well-kept pool overlooking the ocean you can use. If you don't plan to use the kitchen for breakfast, there is a restaurant about 5 minutes down the street that serves a great menu and I especially recommend their eggs benedict! Will definitely plan on coming back!

Room Tip: For the Pagodas, rent ocean facing front rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor!

We booked a pagoda room last-minute and really didn't have any idea what it was like. Ended up getting in late and the owner was kind enough to make alternate arrangements for us to get into our room after the office closed. It was a super cute little room decorated in a nautical style with a bathroom and kitchenette. Ours was a corner unit so we had windows on two sides and a great ocean view from across the street. The room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. Also a unique little area. We'd definitely stay here again - it was a great value for the price and a fun alternative to a standard hotel experience - it felt more like our own little beach house.
