Just loved viewing interesting and thought provoking art here. Loved the architecture and expansive spaces in the building. Gift shop and cafe enjoyable as well.

“Excellent”

Exhibitions were great and the museum grounds are fascinating. Be sure to see Xiu Bing exhibition! Also, there's a quirky exhibition of Canadian artists there now.

“My Favorite Art Museum”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

I'm not a big fan of art. I disliked it in school, and I get bored rather fast. I have no idea about all those classical painters. The MOCA is different: first, it presents contemporary art, second, the works are simply amazing! I felt like being in a creative rush while being in the museum. So many ideas about art, music, business and life came to my mind. I love this place and hate that I did not care much about contemporary art before.

“So much fun!”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

If you're open to new experiences, it's hard to imagine your not having a great time at MassMoCA. When we went, there were not a lot of the traditional paintings hanging on walls. Instead, there were a lot of installations, video art, etc. Everything was stimulating, interesting, occasionally beautiful, occasionally funny. Very kid-friendly, and large enough that it never felt crowded. A new aesthetic experience around every corner - we loved it!

“Place to go if Modern Art is your thing!”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

MASS MoCA is a huge place and the place to see Modern Art. Unfortunately, it wasn't my taste so much of the experience was lost. Some of the exhibits were large and MASS MoCa was able to handle them with ease. It is a place that you can take kids of any age - there is a "creativity" area geared just for them to make and experience their own modern art - a well-thought-out idea, since the other exhibits at MASSMoCA can be abstract for children and (understandably) "hands-off" as well. They do participate in the "free museum days" offered for Bank of America customers, so check the BofA web-site, as it will save you $15 admission fee by going on the correct Saturday.
