“Overpriced food erratic quality”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

The chocolate orgasm is still as orgiastic as ever, but prices have been rising at a rapid rate. Had some German chocolate cake and one piece tasted like it had been there since before Mercedes Benz was an auto, the other was fresher and the frosting was decent. Don't know how two so variable pieces got into the same order.

“Overpriced and unpredictable”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

This well-known bakery in Chestnut Hill can be terrific, with some delicious pastries and desserts. But the food is generally overpriced, and I've had a couple of disappointing visits. The scones were extremely dry, the coffee was mediocre, and the service took a long time. For the cost, I would expect higher consistency. Take your chances (and your extra cash) if you want since when it's good, it's quite good, but your mouth may not fully appreciate what your eyes have admired.

“A sweet place for sweets”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

Rosie's is great for that mid-morning hot or cold drink, with as amazing selection of cakes, cookies, scones, etc. Everything is delicious and attractive, They also have a bakery for ordering anything from a large collection of cookies to special occasion decorated cakes.
Do not take your calorie counter with you.
As a bonus, they have redecorated and the new look is attractive and welcoming.

“Friendly staff, tasty baked goods”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

This is a place where regulars go every day. And there are Rosie's groupies. I'm neither. Rosie's has decent enough coffee and tasty baked goods. Some items look better than they actually taste. If you have a hankering for something freshly baked, Rosie's is one of the better (and only) options around Newton. It's warm and friendly. The decadent chocolate fudge and chocolate chip cookies are particularly good. Worth stopping here. Oh, and each cookies costs about $2 -- be prepared to spend more than for the ordinary baked good.
