My husband and I first discovered Cafe St Petersburg when it was in a small storefront in Brookline. While some of the charm was lost when the restaurant moved to Newton, the menu and staff have largely remained the same. We've taken both family and friends here and everyone ends up coming back! The house vodka is not to be missed! blintzes (potato or meat) are a wonderful first course. Borscht is available in a meat or vegetarian version--both served with a pirozki. Cucumber salad (and the Georgian salad) are consistently fresh. The restaurant has a large selection of entrees, all of which are good. However, the chicken tabaka is outstanding! Dessert selections are limited--would highly recommend Natan's blintzes, filled with a combination of sweet cheese, cherries and peaches. Turkish coffee is also a rich treat (but might keep you up all night)! Prices are very reasonable, particularly when compared to Boston restaurants.

For the last month we ate here twice, once a lunch and once for just a quick bite at the dinner time (we attended one of the concerts at the restaurant). Both times the food was delicious and well presented, waiters were professional and friendly and fantastic bar and beautiful paintings created worm and lovely ambience.
However, for "the Russian crowd" the restaurant was more than just an eating place. We reconnected with old friends, enjoyed familiar faces and music, and cherished a quick stop and "Hello" by the owner. For us, the place was much more than "café". We would never miss an opportunity to visit again!

The food was great, the waiters are nice and helpfull. The place could improve the atmosphere, the place seems a little run down.
Overall the food is good, and a nice evening out.

These dishonest liars charged me twice for a tip, promised to credit back, however, never credited or called back. Very disappointing. Plus, the food is below average.

My parents and I were very excited to try this restaurant. But when we got there at 6pm on a Friday, we were told that they were having a private function, and that we could come back in an hour when it was over. There really should have been a notice about this on their website (which we checked) or a message on their recorded voice mail (we did call beforehand).
