My husband and I first discovered Cafe St Petersburg when it was in a small storefront in Brookline. While some of the charm was lost when the restaurant moved to Newton, the menu and staff have largely remained the same. We've taken both family and friends here and everyone ends up coming back! The house vodka is not to be missed! blintzes (potato or meat) are a wonderful first course. Borscht is available in a meat or vegetarian version--both served with a pirozki. Cucumber salad (and the Georgian salad) are consistently fresh. The restaurant has a large selection of entrees, all of which are good. However, the chicken tabaka is outstanding! Dessert selections are limited--would highly recommend Natan's blintzes, filled with a combination of sweet cheese, cherries and peaches. Turkish coffee is also a rich treat (but might keep you up all night)! Prices are very reasonable, particularly when compared to Boston restaurants.
