“One of our must goto dining locations when we visit Boston”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Whenever we visit Boston, this is one of the restaurants we always dine at. The service is always top notch. The food is always consistently great no matter what we order. I love the steak au poivre. It is expensive, but it is worth it. When we visit, we always arrive early to have a drink or two at the bar. The bar staff are first rate. We are always impressed by their service.

“Meg Ryan would NOT be banging on the table!”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Brace yourself. Or better yet, brace your wallet. Capital Grille is VERY expensive. Our bill for 4 before tip came to $250, combined we had 4 beers, 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, 4 sides and no dessert.

As others have mentioned, the service in the BEST. Servers are very knowledgeable about the menu, and the wine list is extensive. They can’t do enough for you. They even escorted me to the men’s room when I asked where it was. The atmosphere is a dark, hunter motif. And I emphasize DARK. Every window is blacked out, and the rich mahogany paneling and crown molding are DARK. There are candles at the tables, which made it somewhat romantic, but I felt it was bedtime rather than dinner time.

The menu is primarily highest quality meat with huge portions (it is a steakhouse), with few interesting seafood dishes as well. Entrees are $40-50 and come only with a simple garnish. It you want a morsel of vegetable or potato, you’ll have to order a $10 side. Fortunately, most entrees and appetizers are large enough to share, and they don’t mind you doing so. The steaks we ordered were outstanding and done to perfection. We passed on dessert, as the selections were just average and heavy.

When I spend that much for a meal, I want to banging on the table a la Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. I wasn’t. It’s all about the meat and the service. After that, everything else pales.

The Capital Grille is a wondeful place to go to enjoy not only a great meal but to also enjoy the atmosphere and excellent service/staff.

“Always Good!”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

This is a great spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion! It is on the more elegant/expensive side, so I don't think it's a good place for people with young children. They have an amazing wine selection and their steaks are always cooked to perfection!! Make sure you leave room for dessert!!
