“A fun, casual spot for dinner”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

We've gone here twice for a Saturday dinner when we just wanted something casual and good. The location is great -- in the old train station in Newton Centre. The decor would be very popular with steampunkers, but it's not over the top for the rest of us. There's a full bar, which is a great option in a diner. And the breakfast all day and night is wonderful -- try the sweet potato pancakes. Everything we've tried there has been very good, and the staff is pretty good, too. The only negative was a little mix-up in our order the last time we were there, so my husband was eating about 10 minutes before I was, but otherwise, we really enjoy this place.

“Great diner food with healthy choices in a historic train station.”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

This diner has all the fixins of a regular diner for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but with some very nice pluses. They have delicious coffee and a wonderful choice of specialty teas, as well as an espresso bar. For any of the meals, you can go healthy with options of a salad instead of home fries, or turkey bacon and turkey sausage, etc. If healthy's not your top choice, they have the most delicious challah french toast (to die for) and and many varieties of specialty pancakes. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. Most of the menu items are reasonably priced. For breakfast, there are lots of families and the place is noisy. The restaurant is adjacent to a working train station with signs that light up when the train is approaching. The decor is authentic for the era and the building is a registered national historic site. Expect to wait outside for a table to be ready from 10-30 minutes, but you can get a free coffee when you put your name in with the hostess. After discovering this place, it's become a weekend habit.

“American Food in a Relaxed Atmosphere”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

The station diner is conveniently located at the Newton Centre stop on the Green Line’s Riverside line. Public transit is a good way to get to this restaurant as parking nearby is very limited and usually taken up by savvy locals. The diner’s menu is relatively limited, but broad, with breakfasts dishes served at all time. The seating area is intimate, broken into several smaller areas rather than one big open dining hall. It can get busy, but there is a well-stocked bar to help kill the time while you wait for your table, or you can just stay at the bar and order food. Once you visit this diner you will go back.

“Beautiful setting, great food...but watch the a la carte pricing”

They re-created their Watertown experience, but in old-world style, in a lovingly restored (did I just say that?) HH Richardson train station. Oh, yeah, and you can get there via the T ...
