“Disappointed”
Reviewed November 15, 2010

We stayed in a room with wall to wall carpeting that was ancient and buckled and we had no air conditioning as it was removed from the window. It was hot and the old carpet made it uncomfortable to breathe. These quaint inns are lovely, but the old antiques everywhere collect dust no matter how clean the inn and it is bad for your health. The mattresses and pillows were of poor quality making sleep difficult as noted in other reviews. We stayed out as much as possible to get fresh air. With a small Investment and attention to quality, this inn would be very nice. Newburyport could really use a small, new boutique hotel with a spa and/or pool. It has such a lovely downtown.

Unfortunately the mattress was very hard and it was difficult to get much needed sleep.

My husband and I stayed there the night of April 29, 2010, but wish we could have stayed longer. It is such a great place to stay, comfortable, amazingly clean (the owner, Bob Nolan, was doing everything by himself at the time, and he was incredibly busy, but EVERYTHING was done beautifully) We were in the Currier Room, a very comfortable, cozy room that was very true to its colonial heritage, but with all the modern amenities one could ask for. And if we needed anything, Bot was right there to get it for us, in spite of his being so busy.
We had the continental breakfast Friday morning, and again, Bob did a beautiful job and put out an excellent, very tasty breakfast that was filling and delicious. He is very friendly and informative, giving suggestions as to where to go and what to do. He has an excellent knowledge of the area history and gives great recommendations of places to go, see and eat.

I have been going to Newburyport for many years, but I had never heard of nor seen this treasured gem of a Bed and Breakfast. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a high class place to stay, but with comfort and relaxation at the same time. The rates are very reasonable for the service you get; we were able to get a wonderful room for a special off-season rate, which made us feel very special. We both agree that next time we visit Newburyport, we will difinitely stay at the Clark/Currier Inn.

Thanks, Bob Nolan, for a wonderful time!

We stayed at the Clark Currier Inn in June 2008. We found it to be a very beautiful, and extremely well maintained historic home. It was very clean. There were many different rooms other than our bedroom to sit in. The room we stayed in was spacious. The outdoor grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard garden gazebo. The Inn was a very short walk to the Market Square area. We found Bob to be friendly and helpful. Staying in this Inn was one of the highlights or our week in New England. I would very highly recommend it to anyone staying in Newburyport. We also loved this town.

We have just returned from a stay at the Clark Currier Inn in Mass. The Inn is charming and located in the most quaint area of Newburyport. I would classify this Inn as more of a bed and breakfast, therefore, expecting a more personal touch. Breakfast was served in a beautiful large dining room surrounded by lovely antiques. However, the Inn Keeper, Bob, lacked a personality and was reluctant to provide my request of soymilk. When asked for honey to accompany my tea, a jar of honey appeared which looked like it was from the Revolutionary War. He seemed put out by my simple requests, therefore, we chose to have breakfast in a restaurant surrounded by cheery people and staff.

We stayed for two nights in the Clark Currier as we were in Newburyport for a wedding, which was just down the road at the Mission Oak Grill.
We had a great stay and really loved the hotel. It is the most beautiful old New England style house and has been restored beautifully and is really well kept. The rooms area all really big with plenty of space and all individually decorated - we stayed in the Hale room.
Bob Nolan is very friendly without being in the way if that makes sense?! He gave us some recommendations on where to visit, although as we were only there for 2 days including the wedding, we didn't get time to explore too much, other than a walk around the town and a trip out to Plum Island. It was also great that as we arrived late, Bob had left us a note and we let ourselves in.
Newburyport seemed to be a really nice town in New England - sorry I can't offer more than that!

Cute and quiet but small and stuffy. Forget "breakfast"- mostly carbs and not very good ones at that.
