This is an experience not to be missed. Lobster doesn't come any more delicious, fresh or reasonably priced than here at the dock. The chowda' is pretty darn good, too.

Larsen's is the kind of place you think of when you think of fresh seafood by the water in New England. Picture a woodsided building which is both a seafood market and a restaurant, fishing boats docked behind it, tables and seats made of old crates and lobster traps. We went inside and enjoyed looking at all the fresh seafood. We ordered some of the lobster bisque (which was really just ok, not as wonderful as we were expecting and have had other places) and chose a live lobster for them to cook for us. We sat outside in the warm sun and cool breeze eating our bisque while we waited for our lobster to cook. After a bit our lobster was ready. So fun to eat the fresh lobster dipped in drawn butter by the water in such a classic setting. Not gourmet by any means, but ... fresh, fun, and good.

If you're a raw bar fan, this is the place for you. There are no better raw oysters in the world and we've eaten them on a few continents. The raw clams are little necks or cherrystones and equally good. This is the most no frills place I've ever been tol. You stand at the 3' counter while the shucker does his work and lays those chilled briny treasures on the paper plate in front of you. Serve yourself to horseradish, lemon wedges, tabasco, and paper towels before making your way out the back door to sit on one lobster pot with another for a table and ENJOY. As we head out the door they always toss a bag of steamers into the pot which are perfectly done by the time we finish our 2 dozen raw bar treats. Steamers come with a cup of broth and another of drawn butter. About $40 plus tip!

If you have time and like seafood you should definitely try Larsen's. Everything they have are fresh. For the first time I tempted to try fresh oysters after seeing everyone who were ordering at least a dozen .I decided to try and order half a dozen to share with my husband besides clam chowder and sea scallop. I ate 4 of the oysters although it was first time, they were very delicious. We also tried their spreads while watching the sunset which was amazing. It is dry town so if you want to enjoy it with wine then you should come prepared. We did not have a car and was staying in Edgartown however it is pretty easy to travel to menemsha beach.First take bus #6 from Edgartown and then transfer to #4.Let the bus driver where you are headed. They are so helpful.Although it takes nearly takes 45' from Edgartown you won't disappoint.

Larsen's is awesome. They have fresh seafood you can purchase and take home to cook and they have a cook to order window too. We stopped in for lunch and had the best and most fresh seafood ever. Excellent lobsters, Katama oysters, quahogs and stuffed scallops. It was an incredible value too. 80 bucks for the dozen oysters, 2 stuffed quahogs, 2 stuffed scallops and two 2 lb lobsters! Can't beat that. Now this is not a restaurant so don't expect full service. They have some seats outside that overlook the pier and harbor but it's hardly luxurious. Bring some extra wipes with you as it can get messy. All in all, this was one of the best places we ate on the trip. Fresh, delicious and beautiful scenery! If we had rented a house, we would have bought some of the fresh flounder to cook for dinner. If you like seafood, you will love this place.
