“Best in Maynard for dinner & a movie”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

I travel about 30 minutes to China Ruby as it is among the best Chinese restaurants out this way. The staff is extremely friendly the food is great and well portioned and the bar is fun. They are perfectly located for dinner & a movie with the Fine Arts Theater around the corner.

“Great food and friendly service”
Reviewed March 28, 2011

I should start by saying I'm a pretty picky eater especially when it comes to Chinese food! I have often been known to drive a town or two over to get take out. When I moved to Hudson it was clear there was no quality Chinese take out in the area so we started broaden our search, thankfully we didn't have to look to far! I'm shocked to see negative reviews, but from another post I see they have new owners so I must have only been eating here since they took over because we have never had a bad experience there. All of the normal pupu staples are great, but worth mention stand outs are there bone in spareribs and peeking ravioli. Also, there scallion beef and beef in oyster sauce are both great. We pass at least three other take out places on the way to pick up our food from here so that has got to tell you something.

“best around a 10 mile radius by far”
Reviewed March 29, 2009

The Ruby has a bad name because of it's former owners. Since the new owners, who actually work there and run it, it's a whole new experience. Kenny the main bartender co-owns it with his wife. They have remodeled and revamped the menu. Now this isn't some uber fancy Chinese dinning you may want but you don't have to pay for it either. Staff are VERY nice and Friendly. Bar is filled with locals and good classic 'chinese' drinks as well as beer and wine. I recommend the general gao's chicken, and the combo D12. Great scallion pancakes and the appetizers are all made with fresh oil. you can tell this because everything fried doesn't taste like everything else fried which is the usual problem. a lot of places change their oil only once ever two weeks.

It's the best around unless you want to drive for 30 minutes to get to a 'fancy' chinese restaurant.

“it's maynard-what do you expect?”
Reviewed March 26, 2009

it's good for in the stix dining. its great for a bar that's ACTUALLY open somewhat late(1:00am). beyond that, don't go there, expecting to be greeted with a high class dining experience. the people who work here are a friendly bunch, who will treat you with courteousness and the food will be decent. the drinks are strong- ESPECIALLY if you ask for a super mai tai. beyond that, if you want a great experience, go somewhere else.
