This place will be a hit. The two of us got there early (5:30),and were comfortably seated in a banquet for four. Cocktails were prepared exactly as ordered, prices on a par with comparable restaurants. The beet salad and the salmon appetizers were well presented and delicious. Sirloin steak with au poivre sauce, and shrimp/scallop entrees were tasty, tinged with a smokiness, as the name suggests. The only reason I didn't give another star was that the steak ordered medium rare was just a hair over the line, pink but not bloody. I chose not to make an issue of it. The staff seems to know what it's doing. The prices are up there, but worth it. This restaurant fills a niche which is not otherwise found in this area. Every table was full by the time we left.
I was familiar with the previous restaurants at this location, and I predicted that they wouldn't last (clueless staff, poor menu, etc). This looks like it is here to stay.
ps Try the collard greens as a side.
