“Local hangout, not fabulous.”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Locals walk from all over town for breakfast (little parking) and the food is average for breakfast and good for lunch. No dinner served, closes at 2 I think. Servers are great if you are regular, otherwise you can get lost in the shuffle some days. Potatoes served with breakfast are never cooked to a crispy hash brown, but they paprika them instead for the browning color. Pancakes and large omelettes are good. Not fancy in the least, extremely casual, good for kids.
If you plan on going on the weekend plan on standing in the street in line (no room inside) in all weather.

“Great place for breakfast!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

I was traveling alone and a bit apprehensive to go out and eat by myself. But being at the Driftwood was like being with a crowd of friends. The staff and guests were all so friendly, that i didn't feel alone at all :)
Great food and plenty of it! I had a delicious vegetable omelette and home fries, and couldn't finish it.
The staff helped me to find places that I wanted to go, with a map, and even marked off the places and how to get there! I was so pleased I stopped in, and it was only a 5 minute walk from where I was staying.

When I go back to Marblehead I will make it a point to atop in again!

“local melting pot”

My kind of place! Informal, great local color, friendly staff. At the counter, you will have a local fisherman on one side, and a financial guru on the other side. As someone mentioned, not for health-nuts, but great breakfasts!

“A local favorite”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

There's nothing fancy about this restaurant which is tucked away near to
the wonderful Marblehead harbor where lobster boats, and other boats go & come. A warning to strictly healthy, organic people; go somewhere else for breakfast & lunch......It is full of down to earth, colorful residents who catch up on lgoings on in town & who want a good ole' fashioned b'fast Very location to wander around. Directions by car can be a challenge for those unfamiliar to the town....GPS recommended & parking can be difficult, particularly in summer months.......well worth a visit

“A local favorite for all Mheaders...”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

My wife and I have been going to Driftwood for over 10 years, and it's the same great, affordable, unsnooty, hard working Mheaders favorite place to get breakfast and lunch.
Exceptional value especially the omelets.

Breakfast all day long!

Sunday's are almost impossible to in unless you get there by 8am....Don't try between 9am and 2pm.

Parking can be difficult, but there is a town parking lot right next door. Most locals park up Front street a block or two and walk in...

During week, locals crowd in in the early mornings before work, and it calms down around 9am, but gears up for lunch at noon....best to get there by 11:30am to get a seat.

Can be hectic and noisy when families of 4 or more with kids take up seating.

All in all---still our "local favorite" place. We live in Marblehead now, so it's an easy walk for us!
