PDGood. Sittin' pretty at the mouth of the harbor. In summer watch the boats come and go; on a cold winter day watch the ice rise and fall with the tide.

“Enjoyable meal”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

We were staying near to the Barnacle. It was a blustery cold night, we decided to walk there for dinner. WE didn't have reservations, but it wasn't busy at all when we got there. My husband and I both had the chowder - it was good, but cold! We probably should have sent it back, but we aren't very good at that. I had fried scallops that were to die for and my husband had fried haddock which he also said was very good.

“Good food, great harbor view”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

Congenial bar/restaurant with a beautiful harbor view, especially from the bar. Happy hour oysters were excellent. Our early arrival gave us a choice of tables, any of which would yield a harbor vista. Dinner was very good and our young server was friendly and efficient.

“OK, but nothing exceptional”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

Visited this location at about 7 PM on a Friday and the location was pretty busy, although not full. Hostess seemed a bit disorganized, suggested we could seat ourselves if we wanted to sit at the bar at the back of the room, but didn't take into account the several groups of people who were milling around the room socializing. Apparently those seats WERE taken. When finally seated, hostess took 10 min to provide us with menus. Tables are VERY close together, so close that our neighbors had to move their table to allow me to sit, and we had to do likewise for our other neighbors. Having lived in several coastal communities, husband and I have a lot of exposure to fresh seafood. In comparison, the food was OK, but not interesting, and although the dinner portions were large, the dishes seemed very overpriced. Calamari appetizer was smaller than expected. The location was very loud.

Beautiful views of Marblehead harbor and the best bloody mary's in town will greet you in this Marblehead classic. Also worth a try - clam chowder, onion rings, lobster roll, tuna roll. Staff is very friendly and there are delicious specials every day!!
