My husband & I very much enjoyed our stay at the Marblehead Inn. This historic inn is beautiful on the inside & out. We loved the woman who works at the front desk (I'm so sorry I can't recall her name, but she has dark hair). She was friendly & funny & made us feel extremely welcome with her kind & helpful personality.
Our room was on the 2nd floor. A bit small, but we got used to it quickly. We had a claw foot bathtub & a shower. Overall, quite nice. The bed was very firm for our taste, but one never knows how guests will prefer beds. It was comfortable overall & felt very homey. I could live there happily for years.
The options for breakfast are great. Delicious bagels above what you can get at the grocery store, as well as other options like cereal & muffins. There's no typical hot breakfast, which is fine by me, as I don't like hot breakfast options because bacon tends to make the whole kitchen "feel" greasy & the smell of eggs really grosses me out, so I was very thankful for the lovely & civilized breakfast offerings here! The coffee is perfect (important!) and the snacks & tea available at all hours were appreciated (especially the artisan pumpkin bread) :)
The best thing: the quiet. The first night we stayed, there was only one other couple a the inn, the last night it was a full house. The noise levels were identical for both these nights. Now that's just something you aren't going to get at a hotel. These older homes, in my experience to really provide peace & quiet. The back yard was lovely & taking a walk to town was lovely, too.

This is a very affordable place to stay & a great value overall. We would definitely stay here again.

Easy to get around marblehead from location, about a mile from the center of town, lots of parking. Nice, very clean room (#2), great mattress; faced Pleasant Street, but traffic noise not a problem, altho windows were closed. Continental breakfast only, homemade breads and muffins looked good (I'm not a sweet eater in morning). I was disppointed that there were no eggs, bacon, hot food.

Thank you, Kathryn. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and the convenience of the inn. And, we're sorry that you were disappointed in the breakfast. Unfortunately, we're not allowed to cook here. We do, however, offer a very full Continental breakfast that features 5 varieties of fresh fruit, plain plus 4 flavored yogurts, and peanut butter, along with all the different breads and cereals. We enjoyed having you here and we hope you won't let the lack of a cooked breakfast keep you from coming back.

A lovely historical inn in perfect proximity to all the local sites, easy drive from Boston and north to additional coastal towns. Our suite (#9) was very clean and comfortable with a separate sitting area with a sofa to stretch out and watch TV. The bedroom had two double beds and a very functional bathroom. Although we were on the second floor of three, our end unit was very quiet. I suspect there's nothing above this room. The hosts were very helpful and personable; however, in no way intrusive. The extensive continental breakfast with delicious homemade bread selections was a lovely way to start each morning.

My daughters and I recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience. The pleasant staff, quietness and cleanliness of the Inn and the delicious choices for breakfast are just some of the reasons I would recommend this B&B. The cinnamon raisin and lemon blueberry homemade breads were an added treat to breakfast! The staff, who were always available, provided us with directions and suggestions of what to do while visiting Salem and the surrounding area. When we returned at night, we were greeted with friendly faces and it made us feel like we were home. We stayed in Suite 10 on the top floor, which was very spacious. It had a separate bedroom and sitting room (with pullout couch) that were connected by the kitchen.

My wife and I stayed here recently, and spent much of our days visiting Salem. Our innkeeper was very helpful in recommending restaurants, the sights, and most importantly: parking! We loved all of the little things the staff did for our honeymoon: flowers, champagne, chocolates, and free tickets to the Peabody Essex Museum. The breakfasts were nice, with muffins, bagels, coffee and tea.

One of the best things, I think most guests will agree is close proximity to everything, but a nice quiet place to stay. Salem can be very busy in October, so it was a great place to unwind when we returned in the evening.

My husband and I stayed at the Marblehead Inn for one of the last nights in our New England honeymoon. We stayed in room 8, which was quite a bit smaller than a typical hotel room, but very comfortable, nonetheless! Very beautifully decorated and a comfortable bed! We had a single-person jacuzzi tub in our bathroom, but did not take advantage of it. Breakfast was continental style, but with many options -- delicious locally made breads, bagels, muffins, fruit, milk, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, etc. The only suggestion I would make (as a dietitian, ha :)) is to provide more protein choices. There was yogurt available upon request, but I did not see that sign until after we had finished eating. Also, staff were so friendly and welcoming and the Inn is very conveniently located!

Great location, large room, amazing value for the area. We would absolutely stay at the inn again. Everyone was so nice and the breakfast in the morning was perfect. The inn is small enough to make our stay personal but large enough that we felt we had privacy.
