AKA Bistro has a new lovely outdoor dining area. It has heaters and it's covered and screened. Last time we ate the duck was too salty. Last night the scallops were perfect and hubby enjoyed the lamb curry. But the two appetizers (Kobe beef dumplings and seared tuna with sweet potato) were out of this world. The tuna appetizer was a perfect composition of sweet, crunchy, sharp, cold, hot and warm. A masterpiece.

The food here is great. The staff is even better. Both the Japanese and the French chef are old hands at the restaurant business and it shows. The welcome is warm and the service fast and friendly. Our waitress was the nicest, most informed and professional I've every had. The Croque Monsieur was perfect and the tuna tartare to die for. A wonderful bloody mary made the whole experience a joyous ride. If you are in the area this is a must bringing two fantastic cuisine's together in a happy marriage of east and west. Go there for Sunday brunch or for one of their sushi tasting events.

Was it because it was a Tues eve I wondered or because it is one of the few restaurants out there.
We sat outside, too cold and dark inside.(for our
liking) Patio table off balance....wished i'd had a matchbook (not a big deal) Server, friendly enough. Glass of $8 wine appeared underpoured.(oh well, maybe i'd get another) Bread was good. We split the $22 roasted chicken along
with three $9 veg side dishes.I tried very hard to like this meal. Here is why I didn't: The roasted chicken tasted and looked like it had been boiled.(it is not) Roasted broccoli side tasted hard steamed with an area of old on it. Mushroom & onions side does not come with onions or taste like
onion. Herbed zucchini looked and tasted like herbs were forgotten. And these were very small side servings.(half-cup)
The most hard to swallow was the response I received after politely sharing my disappointment. The server, name not important but she became nasty Nancy and asked if i'd like to speak to the chef who IS the owner too she declared. Yes, definitely, I thought he'd want to know if anyone. He instantly dismissed my findings and shoo shoo'd his loyal server away like a fly. I thought to myself I did not see Ego Escargot on the menu. I did wait to hear that humble pie was just
added but it wasn't.
As I mentioned the bread was good and the screens kept the bugs away.

AKA Bistro is a local restaurant with a large city menu that is really well executed.

We sat outside on a very nicely screened patio. We ordered the Sashimi special that was made with Sea Bass done 5 different ways and it was amazing. I believe the chef is in a sashimi competition today and if he does not win with this dish I will be surprised. We also had the Lobster rolls, which were okay but bland after the sashimi appetizer. I had the Miso Salmon that was cooked perfectly and my friend had the scallops and thought they were terrific. The portions are on the smaller side but still ample for a nice dinner.

I would definitely recommend AKA Bistro.

The Bistro is open again! We ate outside on the patio on a perfect June weeknight. Many (well-behaved) families present. Menu was interesting and they were very helpful regarding coping with food allergies. Many dishes with Japanese influences. Seared tuna excellent, Kobe beef also. Scallops a little too salty but included vegetable perfect. They treat veggies with great respect. Dessert menu wasn't inspiring however.
