“A very nice spot though a tad pricey even for Lexington”

We had cocktails and heavy appetizers at the Vine Brook and first, enjoyed the atmosphere and energy of the place. The drinks were well-made. We chose some appetizers for sharing and they were creative, tasty, and well presented. Overall would go back for dinner but the check for the apps & drinks were about what you'd expect for a full dinner. Price will not deter us from returning, as we did enjoy the food and the place has a unique vibe.

“Early lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

My husband and I stopped in Vine Brook shortly after they opened for lunch service on a lazy Saturday afternoon while strolling through Lexington. Our server was charming, talked to us about Lexington (since we were house hunting), and commuting to the city. He gave us great recommendations for our food. I had the Tavern Burger, that he suggested I add some slices of maple bacon too (so good!) and it was perfectly cooked medium-rare. It was nice to sit in the restaurant while it was quiet, not too busy. My perfect kind of atmosphere.

“Wonderful surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

We had tried to go to the Tavern on the Fourth of July, but they were closed. We were glad we tried again in Winter. The ambience was distinct (floors and tables "stripped" to give a wam barn-like appearance) and lent a wonderful feeling to a very cold night in Lexington. We asked to go upstairs, since the downstairs bar was crowded and noisy on a Saturday evening. Upstairs was also crowded, but calmer and we had a waitress that immediately made us feel welcomed and attended to. Then came the food!! The choices were difficult because everything sounded so good, but I enjoyed the trout with apple stuffing. Instead of caremlized burssel spouts ( my least favorite veggie) I asked for parmesan spinach. The combination of the three made it one of the best fish dinners I have had. My two companions has the scallop special and both of them were very pleased. The manager (owner) came over to check on our experience, and stayed long enough to tell us they have been open only a little over a year (since Nov. of 2012), but have had many repeat diners and are still open for feedback and suggestions. We know we will be returning. I'm sorry to read that critiquer862 had a bad experience, and I can only encourage him/her to try again -- I am sure VBT can really get it right next time.

“Great food, and refreshed atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

The Vine Brook Tavern was a delight! We had the Parmesan Truffle Frites with Chipotle Mayo and the fries crisp but fluffy on the inside. The dressing really made all the taste pop. An order of the Buffalo Pork Shanks were spicy but not overwhelming. The blue cheese remoulade added just the right amount of creamy tang. The Hummus and spicy Shrimp had the right mix of creamy and the pita had a nice herb flavor. A nice glass of crisp prosecco brought a light bubbly air to the whole meal.

The interior of the place is nearly unrecognizable from the old Testa days, light and opened up with lots of pale wood and raised ceiling and great little touches like a dish of salt with tiny spoons and and using Erlenmeyer flasks as wine decanters. Kelly served us at the bar, very cheery and pleasant.

“Will be there again soon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

Nice ambience and a great place to dine with friends and/ or family. The menu has a problem..too many interesting and good choices! ( Resolved that by going back several times and trying different offerings.) The wine and beer offerings are superb. The staff is friendly and helpful. ..and this opinion is strongly supported by both friends and family who have dined there with me.
