“Unexpected”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Royal India is in an area with lots of 'ethnic' restaurants within a five mile range. Several competing Indian restaurants -- but it stands out for food quality, service, and reasonable prices. We eat Indian food frequently -- and Royal India has replaced another restaurant in a neighboring community as our Indian restaurant of choice. Highly recommended.

“Excellent, dependable Indian food”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We are not experts, but there are several Indian restaurants in town and, hands down, this beats them all with wonderful, tasty, high-quality fare. We often have takeout, but occasionally dine in at this tiny and charming spot. The na'an is terrific, tandoori oven entrees consistently tender and flavorful. Even the rice is lightly spiced and perfectly cooked. The staff aims to please and are extremely solicitous whether in person or doing take-away. A real favorite for us.

“Great food and huge servings.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Great food and huge servings. The garlic naan is superb with delicious sides and the samosas were the best and largest that I've ever had. I had the chicken doses, which easily would serve 3 people and my daughter had the hottest vindaloo, which the server warned her against but she thought it was just right. Everything was good. At the end they deliver hot towels to the table. The atmosphere is typical with lots of dark colors. They serve drinks.very reasonable prices. Two appetizers plus dinner plus 3 beers came to $48.

“Deserves its Great Reputation”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

I found this restaurant on Yelp, it is 5 minutes from the Lexington Aloft hotel, It's located next to the Visitors' Center and you will need quarters for metered parking with a 2 hour limit. All of the classics you expect, but the quality is up a notch and efficient service.

I had the lunch special combination and chose 3 vegetarian options just because they were appealing (choose 3 of 4.) It includes naan and raita. Pappadum is offered upon seating. The food was terrific and freshly prepared to my requested heat level. The naan was truly the best I've ever had.

It was clearly a favorite restaurant with East Indian locals.

“New in town Royal India Bistro”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We were eager to try this new Indian restaurant in Lexington. The staff are extremely polite and attentive. The menu is extensive and the drink selection creative. We shared appetizers and two chicken dishes, vindaloo and tikka masala. Both were tasty although the white meat a tad dry. Overall a very good experience.
