Here's where it all started, The Shot Heard 'Round the World and all that. If you can manage to be here on Patriot's Day (third Monday in April), get up early (5 am) and see the battle re-enactment by very dedicated history nuts.

This is great way to see both the Lexington and Concord historic sites.

Walk right up to the gentleman dressed in colonial garb and be prepared to be enrapt with his brilliant story telling and depth of knowledge in the revolutionary era! It is free & makes you proud to be an American!

Stopping at Lexington to follow the Paul Revere etc trail was alright. It is just a green with minuteman statue and other memorials. However, we learned a lot from some helpful ladies in the BUckman Tavern shop ( we did not actually go in the tavern) and also from the helpful people in the visitor centre ( which is not signposted very well). I would guess that you would learn a lot from having an official guide and the time to take a tour with them.

The Lexington Green --when presented by local tour guides is an outstanding experience on the start of independence for the USA. Clean, good markers, and many homes from back in 1776. Key is to get a tour guide ( Local History Teacher), and have the tour take you step by step on that special day.
