“Stay Modern While Visiting Historic Lexington and Concord”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2011

Element is a sleek, modern hotel. Room is lovely, beds are comfortable. The morning breakfast is delicious -- not the typical hotel breakfast offerings. The staff is very friendly and accommodating -- graciously allowed us late checkout so we could shower after our bike tour (on a 100 degree day!). About the only drawbacks are that the pool is tiny and the wood floors make it loud when the people in the room above you run around (i.e., children).

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 boys, 7 months and 3 years old. I got a really great deal on a studio suite through Hotwire and was excited by the reviews that I had read of this hotel. It lived up to our expectations and much more! The overall vibe was friendly and fun. It was not too busy. We are very interested in making eco-friendly choices, so this aspect of the hotel appealed to us.

Our room was contemporary, with lots of storage spaces and a well-stocked kitchen with user-friendly appliances. The king-sized bed and sofa bed were comfortable. The TV swivelled for a good view throughout the room and it had a decent variety of channels, although the pay-per-view movie and TV show cost was outrageous ($16.99 for a new release and $3 for a children's program?!! Maybe I'm just cheap.) Also, for those with kids, it was a bit frustrating that as soon as you turn on the TV it went into previews, which included violence so that's not great for young kids. Free wifi was great. Cleanliness was ok, not perfect - there was some dust and a few ants in our bathroom for some reason. There was some noise from adjoining rooms (particularly upstairs, not sure what they were doing up there but something very loud fell).

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and pleasant, and they accommodated an early check in, which was a great help to us. There was a great selection for breakfast - egg sandwiches/burritos, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, cereals, granola, fruit (could have been a better selection), juices, coffee. smoothies. I would say average in terms of accommodating for allergies - they were able to make a dairy-free smoothie for me and my son. "Relax" was a nice touch with snacks (lasagna, chicken wings) smoothies, and wine/beer 4 nights per week. The pool was nice, small but refreshing - although the temperature was strange - rather cool the first few days and then extremely warm the last day. We made our dinner in our room and took it outside on the patio to eat - lovely!

The location of this hotel is good. It was about 10 minutes to the Alewife T station during non-rush hour and we found this to be very convenient for what we wanted to do in the city. The hotel offers shuttles to Alewife and into Lexington, I believe. There is hiking nearby and the hotel also has bikes for guests to use (we didn't).

Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay. We found this to be an affordable, family- friendly, comfortable place to call home for a few days.

We have stayed at the Element 3 times now and we love it. The rooms are great, the breakfast is wonderful (lots of choices and hot foods!). The beds are sooo comfy! They are eco friendly with reserved parking for Hybrid cars.

Room Tip: Rooms have kitchen facilities and everything you need.

I wasn't certain at first if I liked this hotel because I'm used to the more traditional american hotels which tend to be furnished differently to Element. However, the minimalistic, sleek designs grew on me ... I loved the crisp clean sheets and lovely fluffy towels. All modern conveniences were in the room ... ipod docking station, flat screen tv, wi-fi, iron, ironing board, microwave, fridge, etc. The bed was very comfortable. I missed not having a bar to drink and eat in but for one night that really wasn't a hardship. On reflection, I would stay at the Element again and I would recommend it to friends.

Stayed here one night wish I booked for three nights here. Room was great with king bed full kitchen and sitting area. Bed was great with nice pillow. Breakfast every morning. Nice selection. Wished they had more tables. Pool was nice bigger than the aloft. Said it was heated very cold. Once in it was nice. Very classy hotel at a great price

This is what it must feel like to sleep at Ikea, looks like the hotel was designed by the same architect :) Nice modern and functional, all environmentally friendly. Room was clean and confortable, functional, kitchen was fully equiped. They have a well assorted food store in the lobby with sandwiches, snacks and drinks - self service and you pay at the desk. Breakfast was good too, several options to choose from. Good place to stay at for business, bed is confortable and there was no noise. They took extra care to plow all the snow from the entrance and driveways. Didn't try the Internet access.

Room Tip: some rooms are far, you'll have to walk a bit
