Europe has come to America !!!!
An awesome concept. You enter the hotel to a minimalistic, hip, trendy, hotel. A small happening bar was packed when we arrived at 1230pm. Our room was pleasantly minimalistic. Not quite a Heavenly Bed which we had just left in Boston, but comfortable enough. The flat screen tv offered numerous channels. The uber modern bathroom with a smoky glass peekaboo shower door that opened up into the room can go from elegant to racy as quickly as you can imagine, use your imagination !! My boyfriend loved it ....it is not for the timid !! There where brand new magazines in the room which was a nice touch and all the convinces where super modern. The pool and workout facility where very nice as well. This is not your grandparents hotel. Their is not chair, or tables or "extras" in the room. This hotel is for a business trip or a minimalistic get a way. Clean lines and simple is what the Aloft is all about...ALOHA !!

  • Liked — Modern, minimalistic !!
  • Disliked — To far away from Boston !!

We stayed at the aloft for one night to start of our New England trip. From Logan Airport it was just about a 30min drive and pretty easy to find, just off the highway. It is also conveniently located if you want to visit the nearby Battle Road. The hotel itself is very stylish and a refreshing contrast to others we stayed in. A bar in the lobby as well as complimentary internet PCs, and funky music playing at rather high volume. Our room was very modern and was dominated by a huge LCD television, occupying large part of the wall opposite our bed. The room itself is rather small but sufficient if you don't plan to stay in there all day.
All in all, I think the aloft is a very "different" hotel especially appealing to the younger audience. I would say this hotel topped all chain hotels we stayed in during our travels, plus we got it at a very cheap rate. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

  • Liked — Stylish, "different", great TV
  • Disliked — nothing really

This hotel is located about 30 minutes (drive) from Boston.
This is not your typical hotel. It is located right off the exit off the highway but the drive way up to the hotel is very green and feels like you' re driving into a resort. The decor is ultra contemporary and there is always funky music playing...no elevator music in this establishment! There seems to be a very small staff, but they were always smiling and friendly.
The hotel has self check in terminals on arrival or you can opt for checking in the good ol fashioned way! The rooms have everything you may need- a comfortable bed (although the linens were like sandpaper), a mini fridge (empty), a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board (hidden in a nook in the wallunit/headboard) , soap and shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower, soap, body lotion, face soap, complimentary bottles of water, an assortmant of teas and coffees (decaf and regular) and a coffee maker, some magazines, a fairly large safe etc. And the room is wired so that you can connect a dvd player or even a game console to the tv (a 42" flat screen). There is a little box on the desk where all these connections can be made.
There is limitted storage in terms for clothing. There are about 6 hangers in a closet, but no drawers. All of our stuff was spread across the long bench which made the room feel cluttered, but there are shelves that can store quite a bit of stuff.
The food bar in the lobby is decently priced and has a nice variety of food and drinks. We had breakfast there every morning. The egg/cheese/bacon sandwiches were delicious. They also offer cereal, toast and bagels, muffins, cookies and coffee cakes, fruit , energy bars as well as salads with sides such as chicken and shrimp.
There is also a pool table in the lobby, a bar, a gym and an indoor pool.
Everything was very clean and well maintained. We had a very nice stay and we'll definately stay at an aloft hotel in the future.

  • Liked — It did not look or feel like a typical hotel ; and the price!
  • Disliked — Not enough storage in the room.

This hotel looks nice, and has great beds (one of the Starwood group's best selling points - their beds are always great), but in terms of amenities is basically a dressed up Holiday Inn.

I did like the hotel, and at the price it was a good deal, but it's not quite as great as it appears on the website - the fitness room has most of the basic equipment, but it's tiny, and the pool is very, very, very tiny. The ambiance, however, was great and as long as you're not expecting bells & whistles (i.e. room service), you'll be very happy here.

  • Liked — Comfy beds, free internet access, great decor
  • Disliked — Tiny pool

This hotel opened just last month. It is marketed as "eco friendly" and is obviously aimed towards the younger traveler. The staff are most helpful and proud to point out the features that distinguish the hotel. The front desk staff greet you with "aloha", even when answering the telephone. This takes some getting to use to, in Lexingto, MA, about as far as possible in miles and climate from Hawaii as you can get. The rooms are comfortable. However, serveral of the usual room attributes are missing such as storage drawers for clothing. But come to think of it, most stays are one night, perhaps two or three nights at the most; you keep your clothes in your suitcase. The air conditioner was very quiet and ran at a comfortable 73 degrees. The television was a 36" LCD screen with an excellent picture and resolution. One complaint, the fron door while very secure was very heavy, requiring more strength than necessary to pen, Free internet access at the lobby PC's for a ten minute stint is a welcome perk. The breakfast offering of pastries, cereal, juice coffee, etc. was fair, no eggs, bacon, hot cereals. The companion hotel to the Aloft, the Element just across the parking lot seemed to have a wider menu selection.

Overall, a very comfortable hotel and one I would recommend and would stay at again.

  • Liked — The basic necessities, a comfortable quiet room
  • Disliked — Music in the elevator too loud

When you travel on the road, you need to find joy and happiness in the little things (and I mean hotels, there is no joy to be found in a plane these days). Some folks want a nice restaurant, others a deathly quiet room, some just want it cheap, simple and to be left alone. When I travel on business, I like it to be simple, with a slight touch to make me feel like I am coming home. Little things, like a hello, or turndown service at night - service. So when Starwood began pushing their new brands, element (baby Westin) and aloft (baby W), I had to give them a shot.

I found out that there was an aloft and element hotel close to where I was traveling this week. After a lot of research (10 mins) I chose to try out aloft. I think it was the aloha that got me. I expected a tropical paradise in the middle of suburban Boston, ummm, not quite. I'm actually confused why they say aloha all the time, is that the 'chic' thing to do?

The hotel shares an address with the element hotel, located directly across the parking lot. Very nice area, new construction, and pretty hip location. This smells like a good tourist destination with a walkway to the national park on site.

I have posted a full in-depth review at http://nhblacklabs.blogspot.com

This hotel is absolutely amazing. I had done research on the hotel before booking it so we knew it would be cool, but our stay was beyond our expectations. The hotel really is an experience. The hotel lobby is spacious and amazingly decorated with fun colors and unique designs. There are multiple places to sit and relax. There is even a fire place that is lit at night and a bar that anyone could take advantage of. Pool tables add to the fun atmosphere. There are even two computers available to guests with free internet access! The people at the front desk are extraordinarily welcoming and helpful. As tourists traveling through the area, they were very helpful to us, giving us recommendations of what to do and places to eat. The rooms were very comfortable and enjoyable to stay in. While staying there, I was able to utilize to fitness room which is open 24/7. It is small but has wonderful equipment for a good workout and is very clean. The only downsides to this hotel were that the pool was rather small and there was no complimentary breakfast, however an array of breakfast options were available to purchase. We can't wait to stay at another alfot hotel!
