“Wonderful, historic inn”
Reviewed September 1, 2014

My husband and I booked at The Village Inn in Lenox, MA because it was less than 3 minutes to Tanglewood, where we were attending Labor Day Weekend Concerts. It is within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, galleries, cafes and pleasant places to sit and people watch. There is a lovely garden to greet you with tables and chairs for relaxation. There are 3 sitting rooms and a wonderful restaurant that overlooks the garden where a complete breakfast is offered. Although served buffet style, coffee service is at the table. The staff is outstanding, friendly and helpful. Built in 1775 for overnight guests, the 35+ rooms are large, appropriately decorated and have fireplaces. Accommodations in the Berkshires are generally expensive and we found that The Village Inn offered a value for the money. Given that most guests left on Sunday, our breakfast on Monday was cooked to order and delicious. We have already booked a winter weekend at the inn, where we know we will find a cozy warm fire and a cheerful environment. There is also a tavern located in the lower level that was busy and offers live entertainment. Don't worry, the noise from the tavern does not travel up to the rooms!

Room Tip: Book early, especially if you need a first floor accommodation. The stairs are steep.

We enjoyed our stay, but mainly, we enjoyed the fact it was a great location and allowed us a one night stay (as opposed to a mandatory 2-3 night stay). Be warned that if you need ice past 10 pm, you won't have any as the front desk is closed and the tavern is difficult to get served. So next time, I would bring an ice chest with beverages for after hours. Clean room. Decent beds, but dated rooms and kind of shabby. Kind staff. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Not near the tavern.

I stayed here overnight & it was just right for me. People are friendly & helpful, the place is nice & clean & it was very convenient to walk all around town, to other businesses & restaurants. It was also reasonable, compared to other places in town. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet, as well as the surroundings.

Although The Village Inn may not be perfect for everyone, it was perfect for us this weekend. Found it via web, searching for something affordable, in Lenox. Was right in the center of the town, walking distance from the Green, restaurants, 5 min. drive to Tanglewood. Room was small, but as it was our home base, it was fine. Clean, with A/C. Wallpaper, bedding exactly what you should expect from a B&B/Inn. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast (included) was all cooked well, fruit fresh, coffee hot. Even had folding chairs for us to bring to Tanglewood when we found we should have them.

We would defininely stay here again.

Room Tip: See if you can get one away from the pub downstairs if you are a light sleeper.

Really Nice place. An old building, so don't expect anything modern. But it's charming, and the staff are very friendly. Room is not too big, but it has that special thing: Nice, cosy, old furniture etc. Brakfast Is super. So Yeah, I liked it very much.

B&B usually are quaint, welcoming, nice breakfasts. Not what we experienced. The B&B was in need of repair, felt like it needed a good cleaning. ( although it was neatly kept). We had a Queen size bed, but it was actually two twins put together. The Tv was old and only had a few channels that were audible. The coffee table in our room was broken. The breakfast was disappointing. It was similar to what you would get at a Holiday Inn Express. The scrambled eggs were ok, the corned beef hash must have come out of a can. It all tasted salty. The reason we were willing to pay $300 a night is for the experience of a B&B . This place should be embarrassed for what they charge for nothing more than a boarding room.

The Village Inn is close to being a real find in Lenox. Similar lodging will be far more expensive. The staff is wonderful - knowledgeable, accommodating, eager to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast was plentiful, offered a variety of items, and was kept hot and refreshed through the service hours. The location is wonderful - within 5 minutes of Tanglewood and right in the center of town. Our room was in serious need of an update. The furniture was more typical of a 1980's motel than a country inn. The TV was an old cathode ray type and there was limited channel selection. The bathroom was a mix of old and new - the fixtures were newer but the wooden floor while rustic and old inn charming, certainly raised questions about cleanliness. The bed as mentioned in other reviews is in fact two bed pushed together - that is not a real problem. Our room on the first floor was more than large enough for the bed, night stands, a sofa, chair, dressers, and small table. Downsides - narrow poorly lit halls, no air conditioning in the halls, no elevator and entry to the guest room through the dining room

Room Tip: Check for handicap accessibility.
