“Love this place!”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Several members of my family travelled to Lenox, MA for the first time and to celebrate a wedding that took place at Chesterwood. Amy was a wonderful host and also served as the Justice of the Peace at the wedding. Her staff is amazing and went out of their way to make our stay the best it could possibly be. Our room was lovely and very comfortable.

Room Tip: We stayed in Hope's Room--I highly recommend it. Very quiet and comfortable bed.

With all due respect we would not go back to this b&b. We never actually met the owner, we were greeted in a very hustled manner by a staff member, quick rundown on the place and not brought to our room as in other b&b's we've stayed at. The room very small, no temperature control and we think the heat was turned off at night, very chilly in the room. The bathroom sink was so low more appropriate for small children. The furniture and overall look of the place was well worn and musty in the home. Breakfast is billed as gourmet, well I guess we have different ideas of what gourmet is. We felt like we were in a diner. The 2 women running about, and one we finally figured out was the owner, were wearing blue jeans and just did not look presentable. When we asked what was for breakfast they pointed over to the buffet table where there was some sort of empty casserole dish which was soon replaced by one that just came out of the oven. We had no idea of what it was, would have been nice to have a table card to identify what it was. They were delivering juice glasses without the use of a tray which looks very unsightly and clumsy trying carry 3 at a time.. When picking up guest dishes that were done with their meal they would stack them up at the table as though we were in a diner. Everything was very rushed. Upon checking out there was no one around to leave our key. One guest went over to the kitchen door trying to track down someone to give his key to, we were at this point annoyed with the whole thing and just left our key on the foyer desk and left.Every other b&b we have stayed at we have received a receipt upon checking out and thank for our stay.
We have stayed at many many b&b's and would never go back here. I think the owner needs to go to other b&b's to learn proper serving habits, menu choices and to see how other b&b's are run. Don't waste your money here, it's to expensive for what you might expect. One other thing, the owner did an excellent job in taking photos of the rooms, but trust me they are not as pictured

We selected the Rookwood Inn in Lenox for our recent Berkshire vacation based on overwhelmingly positive Trip Advisor reviews, the location, and the Inn’s website. The website has pictures of a beautiful Victorian building, a bright living room with a roaring fire, bountiful looking breakfast and dessert displays, and a welcoming front porch. Unfortunately, the inn does not live up to the grandeur and beauty of the website photos. The outside is illuminated with fluorescent bulbs in the lanterns which cast a strange, unwelcoming glow on the property. The entry hall, living area, and dining room are dimly lit, unwelcoming and dingy looking. Stair and hallway carpeting is a mix of patterns and colors that are dizzying. Our room was small but well lit and clean except for the bedskirt which looked like it hadn’t been washed in a very long time. Breakfast is adequate but, again, not even closely resembling the photos on the website. The location of the Inn is great, our bed was very comfortable, and the staff’s recommendations for dinner were excellent. However, if we were to travel to the Berkshires again I would probably look for another place to stay.

We are very sorry that you felt that your visit did not meet your expectations. The porch lights are bright to assist guests' transition from the parking area which is not bright, to not shed too much light into guest rooms. Our entry, living and dining rooms are very well lit with period chandeliers and, in the case of the living room, with table lamps on each wall.

I am pleased to hear that you felt the rooms were clean, but am sorry that your dust ruffle was not up to your standards. We wash dust ruffles on a regular basis when we have a few days between reservations as we do not have extras. We will try to be more vigilant and perhaps purchase a few extras.

Our breakfasts during the summer and fall are almost always served buffet style because of the number of guests. Each day the hot entree is different and alternates between a sweet and a savory dish, At all times there is a fruit dish, yogurts and cottage cheese, cereals, and a bread product. These too are not the same each day, The photos show food plated on the tables. They are meant to convey an idea of what we serve. While your entree may have been different than the one in the photo it should have been just as delicious. During our quieter seasons we do serve a plated entree when we don't have a full house.

It is our sincere hope that our guests have a very enjoyable stay while at The Rookwood Inn. As always when there is something a guest needs or finds not to their liking, we suggest that it be brought to our attention as soon as possible while they are staying at the inn. This way we might be able to make adjustments which would make their stay more enjoyable.

We visited the Berkshire over the long weekend and absolutely loved it. Amy was a great host, rooms, although a little small for the price, were well decorate, clean and well equipped. Each room has their own bathroom, which was amazing. The daily breakfast was great, made to order, with a variety of options.
The Inn itself i very well located, close to Tanglewood, we got to see Evanescence, and close to all other towns - Stockbridge, Lee, Pittsfield. Great eating placing here the in as well, walking distance to a fabulous food court with various restaurants and cafe
All in all, a great place to spent good relaxing time in the Bershires.

Room Tip: I rcvd 25% off each night cost since there was a special on bedandbreakfast.com

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Rockwood Inn and loved it. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and very clean. The food each morning was wonderful and we couldn't wait until the next day to see what special treats would be waiting for us for breakfast. The cold drinks and sweets in the afternoon were also a very nice touch. Whenever we go back to the Berkshires we will definitely stay at the Rockwood Inn.

Love the quiet, the convenience to Tanglewood and downtown Lenox. Breakfasts are delicious as is tea time!! Staff is very warm, welcoming and helpful. Friends and I have stayed at Rookwood several years.

Room Tip: Is there a bad room? Not to my knowledge. Just do you want to climb one or two flights of stairs?

I am so sorry this is getting out so late, but my sister who lives in Boston, and myself, from Chicago, spent 3 lovely days the end of June, 2012 at the Rookwood Inn, in Lenox, Ma. My sister did most of the planning with Amy, the owner, who did not steer her wrong at all!!! Her suggestions for dinner, timing of events, and special exhibits going on, were all worth it.
My sister is a walker and I was taking an on-line computer class, so while she was out walking I was doing my work, and Amy even helped me out a few times!!!!
The staff was so nice, The breakfast was yummy, and they even put out an afternoon snack that hit the spot!!
The rooms were sweet, big enough for both of us, lots of hanging and drawer space, charming bed/breakfast with interesting collection of antiques, and floral wallpaper---and a great deck that made you meet many other guests. Easy access to town, or to highways to get where we wanted, and all I can say is it's a must place to stay in the Berkshires. What a delight!!!
