“Wonderful Weekend in the Berkshires”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

We had a great time here. As some previous reviewers mentioned, the new innkeepers are in the process of making some renovations to the property, but most of the rooms and buildings are in very good condition, and if you appreciate history there's nothing like staying in a 240 year old home (our room was in the MacDonald House). For me, that sense of history made up for any small imperfections on the property. The breakfasts were good, and I like having more options in a buffet style, rather than the rigidly prepared meals some B&Bs offer. The innkeepers and staff were warm and friendly and I felt very relaxed and at home during our stay. I saw some other reviewers mentioned road or room noise, which made me laugh. Coming from an apartment building on a busy street in a semi-urban neighborhood, the inn seemed marvelously quiet to us. If you are coming here from your secluded cabin in the woods, I guess you might notice some noise. The wood-burning fireplace in our room was the icing on the cake.

Thanks for taking the time to write us a review. We're glad you enjoyed yourselves with us and the lovely Berkshires. We appreciate you noticing we're doing our best to improve the overall experience while staying at The Cornell Inn. While it is a work in progress, in less than a year, I think our entire team has made great strides to make our B&B a warm, inviting, and cost effective choice when visiting the Berkshires.

Best Wishes-

The innkeeper Tim welcomed us warmly and made us feel comfortable from the first moment we walked in. He helped us to our room and then arranged for dinner reservations and theatre tickets for our evening entertainment. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Each room is different and Tim makes sure the room meets your needs. The breakfast is outstanding! Lots of choices with everything homemade with some gluten free options. Everything can be made to order as you wish. There is a cute little bar and freshly baked cookies and hot drinks were provided free of charge. My friend and I loved this place and are returning for a 10 day stay in a few months.

Room Tip: Talk to Tim, the innkeeper. He will help you find the room that suits your needs.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us and while I might be a BIT biased, I would say, Tim, is most definitely a gracious host. I'm always so thankful when we have guests enjoy themselves out of season, as it helps our local economy and those guests get to have a true small town welcoming experience.

Thanks again for visiting and writing us such a nice review-

Our last minute weekend getaway landed us at the Cornell Inn in Lenox, and we couldn't have been happier with our selection. The staff was very friendly, and had great suggestions on where to eat for dinner (Mazzeo's and Salmon Run). We stayed in the MacDonald House in the "Letitia" room. The room was very clean, had a comfortable queen bed, and a relaxing wood burning fireplace (they give you Duraflame logs to burn). There is a deck right off the room with chairs, but it was much too cold to sit outside. I imagine it's lovely in nicer weather. The path off the deck leads right to the main house, where breakfast is served and there is a small pub to enjoy drinks. The breakfast had a large variety of choices, from yogurt and fruit to eggs, pancakes, sausage and potatoes. We loved the cookies in the afternoon. The Innkeepers provide a comfortable, welcoming experience and we will definitely remember the Cornell Inn when looking for a quick getaway!

Room Tip: The bed in the Letitia is very high and although they provide a steps some people may have a hard ti...

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with a review. We greatly appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed your last minute getaway in the Berkshires and at our B & B. While Lenox is amazing during the summer season, it has plenty to offer in the winter as well. All of the same great museums, restaurants and parks sill away you but with far fewer crowds, a definite bonus in my eyes! Yes, Letitia does have the "princess and the pea" bed. In addition to the step stool we'll try to find some other measures to make it easier for more petite guests to get in and out. We hope you come back to visit the next time you plan to escape!

Cheers,
Nell

Had a very comfortable 2 night stay. Innkeeper was likable and welcoming, breakfast was tasty if a bit caloric, and my room was very nicely appointed. Lovely location. I would definitely return with my family.

Thanks for writing us a review! I hope all is well back in Gotham! I know I miss it so! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself during your escape from the hustle and bustle. Yes, our breakfasts are quite grandiose and decadent, but we do also try to provide some healthy options as well, such as yogurt with fresh fruit, wheat bread, and eggs to order. Though I must admit, I'd probably run a few extra miles and enjoy one of our chef's amazing French toast or frittatas!

Take Care-

We are just back home from a wonderful stay at The Cornell Inn, home for two days for all travelers coming into town for our winter wedding! Brides, grooms, celebrants of all kinds, trust us when we say you need look no further than The Cornell Inn!! First of all, the inn is absolutely gorgeous, warm, welcoming, well maintained and truly Lenox authentic. The wonderful fireplaces in the bedrooms, the gathering spaces, the dining room and the enchanted garden area are all so conducive for celebrations with friends, couples or large groups such as ours. Lance is a chef extraordinaire who is a master at devising thoughtful menus, addressing food preferences or allergies and custom requests. He managed an on going buffet over a lengthy period of time, keeping all selections delectable for our guests arriving throughout the evening. He is completely hands on with personal attention to organizers and rapid response time with emails and phone calls during development planning. Tim, the innkeeper is equally involved and addresses all matters from room selection, to welcoming all party members into the inn over and over again with fresh vigor each time. He personally handled all requests from our photographer, shoveled feet of snow off paths for photographs and brought props into pictures that only enhanced the shots to the highest degree. While the inn is unsurpassed the price for the stay is truly reasonable, especi
ally for Lenox which is typically pricey. We promise you, you will not be disappointed!!

I am SO happy to have read and heard from Tim how lovely your wedding was and that everyone was happy with the event and the services provided by the B&B. I know Tim and Lance worked very hard to try and make your special day be amazing, even though Mother Nature was a bit testy and decided to play havoc with the weather! Thanks for taking the time for giving us such a lovely review and we hope you come back for a visit in the future!

What a charming place to come and relax. We spent a lovely weekend in the Berkshires this past October. The grounds are exquisite—beautiful gardens and outdoor space. We visited during the peak of fall foliage in the area—this only added to the inn’s beauty.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to all of the guests’ needs. They had delicious breakfasts and afternoon treats. We especially liked the little pub attached to the main guest house.
Over the course of our stay, we also had the opportunity to chat with the new innkeepers who are clearly making an effort to ensure their guests are taken care of and enjoy their time while visiting. The Cornell Inn is on our list of B & B’s to return to in the future.

We stayed at the Cornell Inn at the beginning of October during our honeymoon road trip of New England. This was our first experience of an American B&B and we were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by the innkeeper, who lugged our suitcases up to the room and pointed us towards the complimentary mulled apple cider and cookies. We had chosen 'Frances' on the second floor of the Main House. It is a spacious room with a little balcony, a small refridgerator, a Whirlpool tub (which sadly, we didn't get to use) and one of the biggest beds we've ever seen! Some reviews of the Cornell Inn complain about the noise from the road but 'Frances' was at the back of the house, so we didn't hear a thing.

We ventured out in the evening to 'downtown' Lenox. It is a quiet, residential town with not a lot happening at night but we managed to find a superb italian restaurant: Prime Italian Steakhouse & Bar. Breakfast at the Cornell Inn is absolutely superb with a fine selection of items. Like many American breakfasts, plan it right and you won't have to eat for the rest of the day! Some of our fellow guests were getting a little tetchy with the chef who was struggling to keep up with demand - "Pancakes! I want pancakes!" - but we were happy to take our time. The Cornell Inn is situated in beautiful grounds with a pond and outdoor seating area. We would have loved to have spent more time here but we had to push on to the next destination on our honeymoon road trip.

Room Tip: The road outside didn't strike us as particularly busy but if you want to be assured of peace an...

Thanks for the lovely review and I hope married life is treating you well. We're so happy to read that you enjoyed both the beauty of the Berkshires and our B&B. Fall Foliage is a wonderful time of the year here in New England, and although we do become quite busy, we try our best to meet the needs of all of our guests. Breakfast can become hectic when many of our gues,ts arrive at once or due to the weather guests are unable to sit outside, but for the most part I find people are understanding of the situation and become content once they have some of our chefs' delicious entrees. ;)

We hope life is treating you and yours well on the other side of the pond and if you ever get back to New England, don't be a stranger!

Cheers,
